PS4 Gpu 50% more powerful than Xbox one and xbox one will still have the power brick (external psu)

The power brick will be HUGE!....we're talking 200 watts!....a massive heavy brick!

I fully expect I'll pick up an xbox one someday down the line, as a multimedia device first with the addition of some great games. For now though, it's looking more likely that I'll be getting a ps4 day one...but there's a lot of time between now and then.

As do I, once they support the digital boxes over here, and give it a few price drops I'll happily pick one up. As a multimedia device its great, as a gaming console not so much.

Don't see the problem being honest ,
They haven't said for certain what the actual plan is regards charges including discounts on new titles when traded in online

XOne has no DVR functionality, there is an IR Out on the back, so it uses a IR Blaster that you connect to the X1 and point it at your UPC HD box....and basically the X1 takes over the function of the UPC HD....in theory, lol.

Sounds like a glorified Harmony remote.

If playstation had the DVR my life would be complete. :pac:

It switches it off if someone else enters the room.

Source? I thought I heard them talk about recording games during the reveal. Unless recording games and recording television are completely different things.

PlayTV is an extremely under rated and unknown about device.

Yep it has game recording capability, but not TV recording unfortunately..

I get a feeling Sony may do the same. I think part of EA dropping the online passes is cause they'll just lock you out of your second hand game.

Not sure if this has already been asked on here but couldn't make it through all 87 pages! Has anyone else heard anything about the Xbox One not being backwards compatible with the 360 games?

Share price is impacted by 'everything' which is why the hacker tweet about a white house explosion last month wiped 135 Billion off the Dow Jones for a period of time.

News is news in wall street buddy Numbers are something to latch on to long term. Im not saying share price cant be impacted again. But it is a certainty that product launches can have a major impact on how a share is perceived.

Im sure you know this already and dont need it pointed out though.

News about a potentially devastating terrorist attack would have huge political ramifications.

A competitor launching a product will not immediately affect share price whilst being presented.
If Sony's share had dropped people would not be on here saying that the new xbox is fantastic.

Apparently it wont be at all. Not surprising due to the difference in discs. No streaming service announced either.

What is it they expect people to do with the hundreds and in some cases thousand of euros they've spent on games over the year? I know people won't buy this Xbox and dump the 360 but having to go set up another console to play the older games is a bit of a pain in the arse..

Not sure if sarcasm.....the current PSU is 220/230 watts. How could this be bigger?

Confirmed not to be backwards compatible, as expected

It is. I think right now they're blinded by their own false hope around TV, hopefully before launch they can sort something out.

Doubt it, Sony are not featuring it either so why bother. The 360 was barely BC with Xbox games and only a select few at that and they ran terrible on the 360, buggy and laggy.

Song are providing a streaming service for owned games.

It can and does. Pandora is one I've been watching for the last few months. Every time there's the slightest whiff of a new music streaming service Pandora takes a nosedive. This is with few other factors and scant news like when Amazon said they were considering a music service.

Another example offhand is Monster. This piece of news caused Monster's stock price to drop ~$10. That is just regarding a suit being filed.

My point is that stock prices can be affected by anything, even the most absurd things because the main factor behind them is people. People, especially games journalist, need to stfu about stock prices unless they want to have a proper discussion about investment opportunities.

As an aside, Sony's price dropped when they did their reveal and that was pretty exclusively down to the uncertainty caused by them not showing the console.

Yeah sure as almost everyone on here has said, most of that stuff won't work over here for a couple of years anyway, if I was living in America i'd be buzzing for that console to come out, but for now all I've seen is a bunch of features that I probably won't be able to use for god knows how long.

Sony are "leaving it up to the publisher", it seems. So they're doing the same thing, essentially.

I work as a stockbroker, watched the live event and Sonys price, as has been mentioned earlier, moved for a completely unrelated reason to the Xbox launch. Any movement in Sony as a result of the Xbox One reveal is complete noise and doesnt point to the markets collective thoughts of the new hardware in any way shape or form. We dont even have a release date or price point for either console yet for crying out loud. If it was E3 and it was demonstrating the launch games along with revealing the consoles price etc then perhaps we have a different story, however there was nothing revealed yesterday to make you bullish or bearish on the PS4 and Sony. Worth noting playstation is Sonys third biggest division and they make more money from financial services than they do from computer games.

Back to the topic at hand......

With the response times on the Kinect, you're surely going to be left redfaced with your pants down.

I'm only catching up on this but have they clarified exactly what you'll be able to do offline?
I would also be worried about games being held back by a % of processing power being dedicated to all that crap running in the background.

Forza 5 being a launch title pretty much seals it for me though :D
Can't believe GT6 will be coming out for PS3 around the same time, major own goal from PD!

They haven't clarified anything really, still ambiguous rumours going around with lots of conflicting reports.
What I've heard so far is, that some games will use cloud based power to compute certain game processes, and those games will require and always on connection.
And that the console must be connected to the internet at least once every 24 hours, not sure why, or what happens if you don't connect it.

Major Nelson is holding a small Q&A today which will hopefully shed some light on somethings, but by now hes probably rehearsed some PR spin to make it sound like its benefiting people.

Kind of worried about that 500GB un-replaceable hard drive. I know its been custom-built, but I would really like the ability to change it to an ssd or increase the size.
