I put teachers in inverted commas but my question refers to a person that is not a teacher but run some activities in a primary school - not a staff member - with kids aged up to 10 e.g. once or twice a week for an hour.

What would be required by school? Criminal record check or proof of proper vaccination if anything?

It very much depends on what the activity is. Yes, you'll need garda clearance, you'll need to have some form of plan to approach the school -about heat, light, paying caretaker to lock up, insurance etc.
