Nice header, that should be it now once the pressure has blown.

    Great cross and header.

    Thoroughly deserved.

Get in there Rooney. Some cross from Baines.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,954 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    I loved that cross!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Great cross, stuck the header away well too

Sturridge would have scored that for Liverpool.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,661 ✭✭✭Fuhrer

There'll be a few more goals here anyway, England creating plenty of chances that Sturridge and Welbeck keep ****ing up. They;ll get one of them right eventually

Unfortunately for England, most of the chances seem to be falling to Welbeck.

He is absolute MUCK. I thought the same having watched the last England game. If he hadn't come through the United ranks, and being English, he'd be nowhere. Will be at Villa or the like in 2 years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

    That flew by.

Job well done so far. Keep it up. Get a goal early in the 2nd half and relax.

Did Rooney open the wound again with the header? I didn't notice if he had that headband on at the start, he didn't for the goal, but does walking off.

Baines should be easily englands firsh choice at lb ahead of cole.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Baines is getting better by the minute! Cole will have his work cut out getting back in.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

Tbf one assist doesn't make him better than Cole.

    Really?

I'm a massive fan of Cole who is the one big name who has never let England down, but Baines gives us another dimension going forward.

That said, if we're playing Portugal tomorrow in a knock-out match I know which of the two I want marking Cristiano Ronaldo.

    Err, yeah, really.

No one said one assist makes him better than Cole and you quoting a post that doesn't say it is frankly baffling to me.

So its coincidence that after the assist the poster said he should be in the team before Cole?

No, it's not. That doesn't mean the poster believes he's better than Cole based on that one single assist.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,661 ✭✭✭Fuhrer

    Smart save from Hart there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,356 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Poland starting to get back into the game. Badly needed that second goal after half time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

    Poor Carrick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,325 ✭✭✭✭rob316

What exactly is the purpose of wellbeck? A striker who doesn't score goals

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,930 ✭✭✭COYW

    Great goal. Gerrard. Brilliant.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,473 ✭✭✭✭Super-Rush

    Well done England.

    :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,325 ✭✭✭✭rob316

I always like to see the England team in the main tournaments. I just can't stand the media ****e that goes with it

Agreed. I'd have given to Gerrard; he controlled the midfield and took his goal well. Anyway; well done to the lads on qualifying. It'll make a MCFC-less summer a bit more interesting. At least until we get knocked out on penalties in the quarter final!

    :(

No ''think'' about it. They will struggle. With a favourable group and a smattering of luck, they'll get to the knockout stages. However; the first decent team they'll meet, they'll go out.

Worry about the tournament next summer. Delighted with the result and for Roy in particular. Really like the man. Up the with Sir Bobby as football gents go.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,325 ✭✭✭✭Dozen Wicked Words

Delighted, only caught last 15 minutes but great to qualify for another World Cup. Surely the media will have some realism about what can be achieved though. The usual quarter final wouldn't be a bad result at all if they got that far. Did the panel say we are unseeded for group draw?

Rankings are out early next month, iirc. Looks like it will be pot 2 in the draw. Last 8 would be a good target and result with the current crop. Some really good teams in the tournament, Belgium stand out for me.

They said during the commentary that they think England might be in the second seeds group.

At least the Irish have something to mock next summer after all.

Baines and Johnson bombing on should be quite exciting in the 4-2 defeat to Germany in the quarters. ;)
