Is it Difficult to Cancel Eircom

Hi guys, I want to switch to UPC Broadband, so....

Just wondering how difficult it is to cancel Eircom (I'm not tied to any contract so that hurdle is grand).

But I know usually you do be on the phone ages with these things trying to cancel.

Also, I have my next Bill being sent out for payment next week, if for example I cancelled today, paid the bill coming, do I have to pay another bill coming i.e. are they in lieu? Or would it just be cancelled from today and I just pay the oncoming bill and that's it?

    Hi

Firstly you must give Eircom 30 days notice by phoning them and then following up with either an email or letter of your intention to cancel. Ensure you keep a copy of either, as Eircom are known to deny ever hearing from you and still charge you for a service you no longer use or want. As for charges you may be liable for an extra months line rental though.

Alternatively as you are moving to UPC and if you're bringing your exiting phone number with you (porting) then they may well cancel Eircom for you, but double check with them to be sure.

    Regards

I handed in my letter of cancellation personally (getting the name of the porter to whom I handed it into) to their offices on Marlboro St in Dublin - that might be not practical for most folks, though. I had no issues with cancellation.
