Any chance someone could post a photo of the vessel if they're down that way?

Was going for a cycle and got distracted by this beast. It's quite a sight to see the celtic explorer and SEEFALKE together

If they are both there tomorrow morning, I'll get some pics as well :)

Think Explorer is going out tomorrow. Don't know what time the gates are open though.

Just check tide times and it will be high tide in around 30minutes so if its leaving as soon as the gates open I won't get there in time unfortunately

Oh right. She be in around for the week coming and going facilitating sampling at sea for Marine/ Ocean Science undergrads.
I'll be out on her on Tuesday myself. I might take a few pictures and upload them, somebody may be interested in that kinda thing.

Just been in to see it with the kids. No getting on board. It's a bit smaller than the Celtic Explorer actually...they are both in the docks now side by side.

I'd certainly be interest in seeing some pics if you take any. I'm really surprised there's no maritime forum on boards where pictures and discussion on Irish shipping and movements, fishing fleets and visiting ships and liners etc.

She spent several days in the bay. Anyone know why?

There is a Maritime sub forum under the soc forum, its basically about all you've described above!

I have a good few photographs from a previous trip on board the Voyager.

I'll maybe post here, on this thread, the few that feature Galway; and the bulk of the ones showing the Oceanographic operations that take place onboard, on the maritime forum.

From Galway Harbours Twitter they said she was carrying research so maybe just doing research & there was an Irish Naval Officer onboard, Also she wasnt due to dock until friday according to her AIS so maybe "sightseeing" as she was down off clare then all they way up past Letterfrack she was in no rush anyway just lazily cruising.

Maybe if they docked early they would have to pay more money?

There was a young wan begging to get on board about an hour ago. One of the lads on watch was blocking her 'have you been on drugs or something' lol.

The couple of days that she spent in the bay were very stormy days out beyond the Islands, 40+ knot winds. I would reckon she was in sheltering from that as she spent most of her time along the lee shores. There were also two French fishing vessels in the bay at the same time.

I've seen it a few times over the years.
I don't think it comes every year, but it has been around before.
