Hotel rooms are very expensive even for a 2 star hotel.

I want to settle in as quick as possible .

Ya, I`d nearly say 100 percent you have to wait until you get here.
Also the majority of places are rented from the first of the month so that is something to keep in mind.

The Hostels are pretty much downtown tho. I stayed in wicked. There not like hostels in say europe or Oz which are Party hostels. Most of the people in Wicked are working/in process of finding somewhere to live. Can still be fun tho...
Are you going to rent on your own or with shared accomadation.
Also if your renting on your own you will have to sign up to a minimium 6 month contract.
House shares are much more flexible.
Kijiji will give you a good idea at what rents are for whatever accomadation you want

The rate for apprentices in Calgary is amazing its a real shame you have to be a PR before you can undertake one ya would make a killing:D

As outlined in the 2013 IBEW contract:
1st year apprentice – 60% of Journeyman rate ($28.83 per hour)
2nd year apprentice - 65% of Journeyman rate ($31.22 per hour)
3rd year apprentice - 75% of Journeyman rate ($36.03 per hour)
4th year apprentice - 85% of Journeyman rate ($40.83 per hour)
Journeyman Rate – $48.04 per hour based on 2013 rates

Cant wait till i pass my journeyman exams 50 bucks an hour sounds pretty darn good lol:D

A first year alone makes 8$ more an hour as a general labourer would and that's considered good money:D

Not gonna be easy to get PR , especially since we are unskilled only ppl in the A , O , and C category of trades can apply and get it no problem somethin like that anyway, I was at a canadian recruitment thing the other day and they put a downer on the whole thing for me, theres no shortage of labourers for the oil sands either accordin to them

I live beside Buncrana and worked there for many years, the move to Canada would be a welcome change of scenery as I would no longer have to sign on each month in Buncrana :D.

Excellent from what I hear,I don't fish myself, but I always see people fishing in lots of different areas of the Bow. I think you can Google the best areas to go.
