Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi there my pal who has just moved into a new rented house has found a motorbike out the back hidden under some bushes and it is in a fixable state, not to sure what type of bike it is but it says 125 on it, the landlord knows nothing about it and doesn't even know who owned it and has told my pal to dump it if he wants, So what we would like to know is can we sell it? we have no log book or anything and honestly do not know who officially owns it, what can we do if anything with it.

Don't know for sure and can't find out until this evening, can I ask why, is it to find the owner?

Well because if you have the number plate then you can call the local garda station and give them the plate number and they can see what the deal is with the bike.

For all you know it was robbed and stashed where you found it.

Don't know about Ireland but in the UK if you inform the police and dvla that you have the bike and they don't find the owner after a period of time you can register the bike in your name.

as said, with a license plate you should be able to find who owns it, and what its status is. If its pinched and you try and sell it, you can wind up in alot of trouble

And if it doesn't have a number plate look for the chassis number and engine number. These can help locate the proper owner too.

chassis number: Stamped on the frame or on a metal plate attached to the frame. Often on steering headstock, in front of fuel tank
engine number: Stamped on engine casings

Would you not try and find the owner first.??...could sort out someones misery....they might even give you a reward...;)

if you find numbers on engine, frame or reg notify the garda they'll try and inform the owner, if the owner can't be located then you can go to a commissioner for oaths and swear a statement that you found it and wish to own it. the tax office will then accept that as transfer of ownership and issue a cert in your name..
