Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Switching from JSB to JSA - Confused about reduced payment

Hey all. I'm new to the forum, so apologies if this is in the wrong section or if it's a stupid question.

Basically, my JSB claim is due to end in a couple of days. I've already applied for JSA and just this morning received a letter telling me that it's been accepted but that my payment has been reduced to about €125

I live with my girlfriend who is currently doing an internship on the job bridge scheme, so she gets the standard €188 + €50. The letter stated that our household is only allowed €312.80 a week and that my girlfriend gets €188 of that because she's still technically on the JSB, so I get what's left.

We were barely scraping by when I had the €188, there's just no way we can survive now. We're not entitled to rent allowance, so most of our money goes to paying rent on our crappy €500 pm apartment and all the bills that go with it. We eat the cheapest crap that Lidl has to offer every week and we still come up short to pay some of the bills on time. But we were just about making it work, even though it was anything but ideal.

I guess my question is, is there anyway around this reduced payment? Can I get back onto the €188 standard payment somehow?

I'm having no luck with jobs and have been working on becoming self employed for almost a year now. I was planning on applying for the Enterprise allowance soon. Would that bring me back up to €188, or will I just continue to get this reduced payment that they've lumbered me with?

A million thanks for any guidance anyone can give me.

Unfortunately the rate you have been give of €124.80 is the max you can get.
When one person is on JA, which is a means tested claim, the max combined amount is €312.80. Unless you qualify for JB again you won't be able to increase the rate. You will continue to get the extra €50 while your partner is on Jobbridge and hopefully she will secure employment from that.
