I was just watching the Dispatches programme on Channel 4 about Ofsted's reports on Creches and Pre-schools in Britain.

it showed up some shocking stuff but atleast Ofsted published the reports and complaints on its website, there doesnt seem to be anything like this in ROI, even though it says on the HSE website that they intend on doing so.

I know there is a report on view in the reception of my children's creche but I would never have the inclination to read it there, I'd prefer if it was available to read at home.

I know I love my creche and I know its well run but from doing audits I know there are always next steps and I'd like to know what they are working on. Also if there is a complaint, I would like to know how they handled it.

    Anyone any experience of this?
The HSE is responsible for inspecting pre-schools, play groups, nurserys, crèches, day-care and similar services which cater for children aged 0-6, under the Child Care (Pre-School Services) Regulations 2006

In the future, the HSE intends to place reports on inspections of pre-schools on this website.

... I watched the same program a few hours ago... it was absolutely shocking!
I remember a thread a while back about creches around Dublin and one poster in particular described a few that had they been inspected would have been closed down. I wouldn't tust the HSE has inspected all the child-minding places, apart from the big names like Giraffe.
Until there are state-ran creches I chose to not put my child in one as I do not trust private practices because they can basically make up their own rules.
How do you find your child's creche?

Afaik to provide the free pre-school year (ECCE programme), providers have to meet requirements about space and staff ratios etc. It's not inspection, but at least it sets some standards.
