Oh good! Though their furniture looks remarkably like Homebase stuff! That will be three furniture shops in that row though, still it makes it easy to compare :D

Seems to be something happening with the City Square upgrade. They has been work going on in the old restaurant next to the 3 store the last couple of weeks.

Head something on WLR at 11 that a planning app for new shopping center will be launched soon. Think it is the one discussed here before.

Noticed that WLR has the scale of the development down as 10,000 sq metres, the original plan was stated as 26,000 sq metres and 87,000 sq metres in another document that I saw so it appears it is less than half the size (or one ninth if you go by the last figure).

I know the hotel is not included anymore but hopefully this is not a severely watered down version of what we were suppose to get.

Good news either way though it must be said.

"Permission for a new retail centre for Waterford is to be sought shortly.
Newgate Properties Limited wants to develop a high-profile site at Michael Street in the city centre. The company will submit a planning application to the Council in coming weeks with the application funded by the National Asset Management Agency.
The proposed development will generate up to 250 jobs during construction and is expected to support up to 480 retail and support jobs when complete. It is envisaged that the new centre, which will also be bounded by Alexander Street, New Street and Stephen Street, will accommodate a range of retailers, primarily fashion and other specialist outlets. It will include over 10,000 square metres of gross retail floor area split over two levels, Cafes, restaurants and food retailers as well as a four-storey carpark with 385 spaces"

This development will revolutionise shopping in Waterford! Let's hope that it gets going soon & is up & running shortly!

Topping the list is Waterford, with 28.5Mbps, followed by Dublin at 27.9Mbps, and Kildare, which came in at 26.5Mbps.

Averages have a part to play but there's also the more important aspect of urbanisation. Most of the population of Waterford city is concentrated in a relatively small geographical area and is not a makey-up city like Galway (which is a country town with a bunch of villages stuck on). UPC/Virgin has a high coverage of the city so that's going to compensate for lower bandwidth coverage outside the city. (The averages aspect) Dungarvan has had broadband internet longer than any other town (Casey Television/Cable). Some of the other towns like Dunmore and Tramore are quite large and it is more economical to provide good quality broadband in these towns but that's been a more recent development. The areas/counties in the press release that have poor coverage tend to have populations spread over large areas with low urbanisation.

    Regards...jmcc

The city has excellent broadband services, with Virgin leading the way. If you take Dungarvan and Waterford City out of those figures, the "average" would quickly drop to 2.8 Megs. Not 28.

Wetherspoons plans can be seen online and are quite nice to be fair.

They have been asked for further information, revise the windows and some architectural tweeks to bring building into line with the local area. Someone mentioned to me they want an archeological survey also but not to sure on this
