I have to say having had the opportunity to read a lot more of the national media these past few months what with all the extra Covid time (and lack of pubs etc!) I have seen a lot of mentions and articles about Waterford in the weekend editions of the Irish Times, Independent & Sunday Times. In the past number of weeks there has been a large front page (and 2nd page) of the Times weekend review supplement re Waterford business's opening after the lockdown, last weekends Indo Weekend had a feature on Waterford tourists sights, there was also a large feature on 'Nest' shop on the Quay in the Sunday Indo's Magazine another weekend. And the Greenway is always promoted even now more so what with the focus on staycations this Summer. More and more people are realising what Waterford has to offer.

Have not heard it myself but apparently Ray Darcy has a number of times praised his visits to Waterford on his show and how fantastic his experience was.

Yeah that's unfortunate. Hopefully it doesn't put anybody off coming here for a visit! ;)

You know what they say, all publicity is good publicity. Even if who said it is not everybody’s cup of tea.

Nearform going global! Well over the border and across the sea to Skye (and the rest of Scotland)
Channel 4 News just had a report about the NI adoption and mentioned Scotland were also becoming clients.

Nice to see The Milestone taking the old Bagel Factory as their newest pop-up cafe. They've done very well in Kilmeaden in the past year.

Also see a new Mexican restaurant being fitted out in Poleberry (where Pizza Hut were going to go) can't remember name, but has a similar decor of Ramen and will finally brighten up that area a bit.

Yeah, also saw there is a planning application in to turn a lot of the empty retail units on the ground floor into offices.

It's called Pinks Mexican Grill and Cantina. Says it's opening in September, passed there today and they seemed to be fitting it out. Website is below but doesn't look finished.

Good and all as it is, it’s worrying that the only businesses that seem to pop up in Waterford are ones that can open and close overnight. Would love to see a new Bausch & Lomb or Sanofi or a company that will employ highly skilled workers. That’s not a dig at these new companies or those that are employed, far from it. Any new job being created is a much needed boost but Waterford needs more skilled jobs with above average wages.

Completely agree, even though we need all jobs, we truly need more secure jobs, with better pay and conditions

    So no drugs?

No none, in actual fact they don't even make the stoppers just process them for use. Seems bananas but that's the very regulated industry they work within, but not a bad time to be making such a product with a huge built demand for vaccines?

most activities related to the industry are heavily regulated, thankfully, but like everything, im sure the deregulation forces are hard at work there!

Sean Johnson owns the causeway group and is putting a lot of investment into the city doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

Never heard of him, fair play to SJ though. We need more like him.
