Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ah hello Richard. Yeah Matt Smith would have been great

    Or David. Or Peter C.

    Maybe even Tom - although he's 82.

    :o:o:D;)

That first game was a bit dull.

    Enjoying it so far.

Ha, I immediately jumped to the manic energy of Smith to be honest

Fort Boyard is what I'm thinking of . Those midgets were always inappropriately touching the female contestants .

    Merchant is doing grand.

When this was first unofficially announced, David Tennant was supposed to be the host.

That was where the Doctor Who reference came from!

Merchant is very good.. shame if the show comes back, he's probably a bit too high profile to do it regularly .. they'd probably get Claudia Winklemen or Jimmy Carr.

    CBP-2O-W4AADwC7.png

This guy was always ass to face with female contestants, always moving them

''oh stand here, let me move you by grabbing your ass''

I would always see it, 20 times an episode, you could see some of the women were freaked out.

If you're wondering what Johnnie Peacock's disability is,

his right leg is missing just below the knee.

Has there been any nod to Edward Tudor-Pole? I thought he was a good host even though he got a good bit of stick.

The Industrial Zone featured a black-and-white picture of him. :D;)

There was a pic of him on the wall at the start of the industrial zone

So everyone has played one game now.

    I expect a lock-in later, though... :o:D;)

Disappointing lack of harmonica so far... very good otherwise..

    Six crystals already.

But then these games are comparatively easy, aren't they? :o:D;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,036 ✭✭✭✭Basq

They were all games from the original to be honest..

True, but there were slightly tougher games as well... :o:D;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

If this comes back, I'd like to think they would come up with better games (I'm guessing these ones are from the live experiences)

But it's all good, SMerch is going a perfectly decent job. Not trying to be Richard II** or Ed II

    (**Apart from the hair, obviously!)

Pity no one got trapped inside. That was always funny.

All good fun.. brought me back to my childhood, and Merchant surpassed all expectations. More Please!!

    That was over too fast.
Great fun, Merchant is not full of energy but sarcastic as hell. Not at all bad

"Do I get a 'I Cracked the Crystal Maze' crystal? No? I shaved my head for this..." :D

Well that was thoroughly enjoyable, I thought. :D:);)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

I thought it was good. I'd like to see it get a short series run.

Funny too now seeing Merchant as the one with 'a head like a f*cking orange'. I wonder what Karl makes of it. :pac:

Really really enjoyed that. Although the set was a lot smaller, Stephen Merchant was brilliant. Great topical jokes throughout.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,820 ✭✭✭FanadMan

With all the reboots of TV shows and films, I'd be surprised if they didn't bring it back properly

I enjoyed that rather a lot, even with Sara Cox and Rio Ferdinand in the team.

Hopefully they'll get good numbers for this and bring it back for a run. Merchant made a good host, some nice quips.

    I've always liked Sara, TBH.

Bollocks I missed this. Will it be repeated?

  • Registered Users Posts: 740 ✭✭✭Raven Runner

Well done to him for shaving his head but no matter how good Merchant is , You can't beat the original Richard O'Brien

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,313 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

I would've been crap at the one where you had to know a load of showbiz answrs that Stephen commented on as well.

Was it always 2, 3, 3 and 2? I thought it was 2 3s and 2 4s. And strange having Stephen pick the games. I guess there's less choice in the Experience

Merchant did a great job and did justice O'Brien and the original show.

One of my favourite shows of the 90s!!!. It was a brilliant remake that stuck to the original games so brought back great memories. I always wanted to be in that cystal maze at the end. ' Will you start the fans please'

Brought back the memories of shouting at the tv. Like "Use the other ropes!"
