JSB ended should I apply for JSA

    Hi all,

I was made redundant last year and was automatically eligible for JSB. I chose to relocate to Germany before Christmas in search for work there and transferred mu JSB for the maximum period of 3 months (I did not find work there). I am now back in Ireland and my JSB has expired. I am going on a trip to Asia for approximately 6 months starting in the beginning of March and at the end of this period (Oct 2013) I will return to Ireland & hopefully find another job.
My question is this....should I initiate a claim for JSA at this point? I will really only be in Ireland for another 3 weeks before I go...financially it might not be worth the hassle but are there other reasons as to why I should proceed with the application?

    Thanks and Regards

The criteria for receiving jobseekers is that you are available and looking for full time work. If you meet this criteria then proceed with jsa claim but in all likelihood you will be gone before its processed.
