STAY THIRSTY OUT OF SIS FINAL

Rathangan trainer Robert Gleeson was a very disappointed young man this morning as he had to withdraw his smashing tracker Stay Thirsty from Saturday’s €20,000 SIS Live Gold Cup final at Shelbourne Park.
Explained Robert: “He has had a recurrence of the wrist problem that caused him to be withdrawn from the quarter final of the Derby last year. The trouble arose after the second round when he was sore after the race but we treated him last week and he ran a great race in the semi.
“On Sunday he was twice as lame as he had been the previous week. We had him x-rayed and the problem is with a bone at the back of the wrist. It will take two to three months.
“It’s a terrible pity because he is such a genuine dog and we were just using this event to get him ready for the Easter Cup which would have really suited him with the 550 yards trip. We will give him every chance, he will be off for three months but hopefully we can have him back for a crack at the Derby”
