120 New Garda reserves will hit the streets after having passed out at the Garda Collage today 15-02-12,so here is another 120 people who cant patrol on their own, and will more then likely be bounce out onto the street, and in doing so taking a member off what they were dutied to just to partner them.

Cant understand why they cannot adopt the same idea as the uk have with independent patrol, would make more sense and would also make a more visable presents on our street.

Or another 120 who will join and support regular Gardai who are stretched and patrolling with little back up, thereby supporting the safety of these regular members and the public.

While the concept is totally underutilised one would feel from your post that at the moment GRs are useless.

    Hey guys....
Am a seasoned garda reserve based in a large station....
Have seen it all from dead bodies...Being involved in car chases....drug searches.... late night brawls.. I could go on....
from what i can see the fulltime mules are really pissed off for a multitude of reasons and the last batch who got in are seriously considering jumping ship and cutting their losses.....The bottom line is the country is broke for the poor sods at the bottom of the Heap and the ones further up the ladder wont even notice any cuts..whats the answer....??????.....One thing for sure is this country is going through tough times....some are suffering a lot more then others...

Who's going to jump ship ? The fulltimers or the reserves.

Botttom line is the reserves are only volunteering and they come and go....when you have nothing to loose you are not going to loose any sleep..
But the fulltimers are a different kettle of fish..AND are being pushed to their limits with cuts...
