Lol at that "free DLC". I imagine it is free now, because of the **** storm. Imagine if Sim City would have been success. I would bet my balls on it, that it would have been a payed Dlc. So EA would be down in the history books as the first company, who sold you the actual AD of a product!!!! :pac:

As Rock Paper Shotgun pointed it out, it might be a future avenue for DLC. Advertises pay for it, so the gamer doesn't have too. I don't mind as long as the advertisement fits into the game world naturally.

Are the issues on this resolved, I might purchase it soon.

    No, not yet.
There is a big patch on the way, supposedly soon. But, judging by their traffic patch which in some aspects made things worse; I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this game to become fully functional as promised.

Which it doesn't, the electric charge station doesn't require electricity to run

Nothing to do with the advertisement though. An electric charge station to me doesn't seem to be out of place in a SimCity game nore does the advertisement that came with it. The fact that it doesn't use electicity sounds silly alright but thats more to do with a bad design decision than advertisements.

Ha! That's brilliant. Quality shines through.

I think it has solar panels on top of the station so it's self-sufficient.

It is "green" it has solar panels on the roof of the building to charge the cars.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,097 ✭✭✭✭zuroph

    yup, covered in solar panels.

  • Registered Users Posts: 972 ✭✭✭_Puma_

If we are being pedantic here, anywhere that uses solar panels as an electricity source is also connected to the mains. Surplus generated electricity is siphoned off to the grid, or in periods of low solar illumination, electricity is brought in off the grid. If solar panels were to be truly off the grid you would need massive capacitors (Batterys) and some way to regulate the current! :)

If I can have a time playing with less processing errors. No processing errors is unrealistic. There will never be savegames, but please I hope EA/Maxis will reduce the number of processing errors. Later they could try get gifts working. I dislike the tiny city sizes. At least c. 150,000 seems to be possible per city, if it's flat.

Water seems weirdly scarce, which means I pump water from the one remaining area in my city with water. The water from this mine area - where I had mistakenly for a time had ten sewage outflow pipes in spite of already processing all my sewage in that plant - rates as deadly. Yet there's no massive problem. Before I tapped into that water, I had somehow fell into a deficit of water supply. It meant mines and smelters randomly stopped, and my city which ran a daily deficit was no longer making money on selling oil, alloy and steel. I now have a processor plant, but that's more paying for the expanded hospital, than adding to my money. That first city has 1 mil simoleons and c. 100,000 people, which is okay.

Does Nissan not worry that people will associate Sim City ahem super stability with the Leaf's reliability?

Based on this thread I bought Anno 2070 instead of SC and despite not liking it too much for the first week I'm bordering on obsessed with it at the moment. Great game.

Ditto. Takes a while to get into it, but it's totally worth it.

Think I'll try the game again after leaving it for a couple of weeks. Looks like the region search / filter functions are still MIA though. Are there any regions boardsies are playing on with a free slot going? If someone could send me an invite that would be cool, Origin name same as here.

Facing a problem, can I set up the using my portable hotspot on my phone, then disconnect the hotspot when the game is running, and when I want to save, just use the portable hotspot again.

Currently without Internet, or should I wait until the 2.0 update is applied?

Tempted to try the casinos again. Whatever about the gambling being broken not giving you the ability to build the casino completely was a joke, to get the perfect arrangement of rooms it always ended up looking half finished

There hasn't been any official mention of an offline mode yet so 2.0 probably wont make a difference. I also think that disconnecting any reconnecting would work for you, apparently it checks every 20 mins to see if you are still connected or something like that.

    Guys,

My son is looking to buy Sim City for PC but I'd like to be sure our 2 year old PC will run the game before he invests.

We have UPC 50mb fiber broadband so that won't be a problem.

Our PC is a Dell i3 3.3GHz processor with 4GB RAM and Win 7 64 bit. The Video card is an AMD RADEON HD 6450 which gives a Gaming Graphics "Windows Experience" score of 6.2.

Will that suffice for a good Sim City experience?

I note that the SIM City help centre says the following:-

    "Video:
Players will need at least a 512 MB video card featuring either an NVidia 7800 or better, an AMD chipset of at least an ATI Radeon HD 2x00 or better, or an Intel Series 4 integrated graphics or better.

***NOTE: All the above-mentioned must also have a minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM and Shader 3.0 or better support.
It is essential to the game’s performance and stability that the latest possible drivers for your video card are installed at all times. "

I can't reconcile whether our PC spec conforms with the video spec above.

Can someone help me with this??

    Cheers,

    Ben

Forget about it, that card could barely run minecraft

It actually runs Minecraft smooth as butter my son has been playing and modding Mincecraft for over a year with no glitches whatsoever. I just checked on this site which purports to confirm whether or not video cards are compatible with Simcity http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=3562&canMyGpuRunIt=SimCity and it indicates the AMD RADEON HD 6450 is indeed compatible

If I buy him the game and it doesn't run properly can the video card on a Dell Inspiron 620 MT BTS be upgraded and is it a simple DIY job of swapping out one card for another or not??

    Ben
