I planted one of these two years ago. In the first year, all the leaves fell off and it never grew(I had expected this). 2nd year it took off and grew 3 feet in height and bloomed very well. Problem is it just one long shoot that has grown upwards and to the left. It just looks odd and now I want to try to prune it so that I can promote a bushier aspect.

It's now budding again - If I prune it right back to the ground level, how do I get multiple shoots to grow?

Prune it just above the buds to create side shoots. Then next year do the same to the new side shoots.
