Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Oooh crap, just realised it wasn't the winner, but the equaliser. That may have made a difference. I always remembered it as the winner.

Just when I thought I couldn't care any less about what Pele has to say, this pops up.

Yeah because the most important thing about football is how you react after you've kicked the ball.

This ones dragging on a bit now.....

In the meantime, who's the last name in this list....

    Gerry Daly,
    Frank Stapleton,
    Andy Townsend,
    Damien Duff,
    Stephen Ireland,
    ........

EDIT - Just as a hint of sorts, there is only one name after Irelands, but a few before Daly's

Simon Cox? Is it players who made their senior Ireland debut without ever playing for the Under 21s?

    I think it's Andy Keogh.

I think the connection is each player scored the first goal under the new manager.

Close? Ok first competitive goal then? It was against Georgia but I can't remember who. Maybe Glenn Whelan.

I dont think Stpehen Ireland scored against Georgia, I can remember the San Marino goal and I think wales and Slovakia/Slovenia not sure of the 4th though.

Stan's first game was Sweden at home. We won 3-0, I think Ireland, Miller and someone else scored.

Is it Kevin Kilbane? First Irish player to score in an international match at a new stadium?

Roanoke is on the right track..... Not Kevin Kilbane either btw.

Can't remember Traps first but it was vs Georgia. For some reason I have Whelan and either Doyle or Stephen Reid scoring in that game.

I'm fairly sure S.Ireland was first for Stan (vs Cyprus 2-5). Townsend might have been first for Mick (can't remember). Duff was defo first for Kerr (vs Georgia ... again). IIRC from reading Stapleton was first for Charlton (vs Belgium). No idea if Daly was first for Hand.

If it's first competitive goal then I'm gonna guess Robbie Keane or Kevin Doyle. THink one of them scored in that match

    Kevin Doyle it is!!!

The list is the first competitive goal scored under successive Ireland managers. (Eoin Hand, Jack Charlton, Mick McCarthy, Brian Kerr, he who shall not be named, and Trap.)

Robbie Keane scored in Trap's first competitive match, didn't he? 1-0 v Cyprus?

Edit: Obviously not! That was a good one, AC, thanks!

    Impressive.....
I had to google them all (apart from Stephen Ireland, stragely enough) to come up with the question.

You could be right with Whelan, I think he got a goal from a big deflection, or somebody that day did.

He is a legend of Irish football. He earned 102 caps for Ireland, making him the fourth most capped Irish player, he was the most capped when he retired. He is the only Irish player to play in three world cups. He won the league and FA cup as a Liverpool player and two league cups as an Aston Villa player.

It was a joke man. Read back through this thread. His name was mentioned in about 600 consecutive posts.

That's been answered already, it was Madjer in the 1987 Champions League Final.

I'm going restart this with a 'Who Am I?'

-I've been at the same club since the 90's, where I have scored over 100 goals.
-I've only played 16 times for my country.
-Though I did play in the 2006 World Cup.

    Who am I?

first name that came to mind was Rodrigo Ceni.....he has scored loads of goals for his club even though he is a goalkeeper.

The two "?" teams are from outside the Prem.
(also if the list gets longer then the next team is guaranteed to be a Prem team)

Probably not because Swansea are missing.

One team did better than all the others on that list. That team was Everton (the lower mention of Everton that is).

I'm going to guess Huddersfield are one being wembley winners in 2012??
