Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

One I heard the other day:

Six players who have played in the champions league for Real Madrid and Barcelona

    Luis Enrique
    luis figo
    Albert Celades
    Michael Laudrup
    Javier Saviola

I'm not sure Eto'o ever got a game in CL for Real, might want to check that one.

Correct. Eto'o is too apparently. This was a question from the Opta quiz in London so pretty sure it's accurate

I think I have the Keane one. They all scored a penalty in normal time and also in a shootout at the end of a World Cup finals game. All 3 lost too..Ireland in 2002, England in 1998 and France in 1982

Might have been asked earlier in the thread already, but who is the only player to have scored for two different countries in the World Cup? (not including own goals).

    Lothar Matthias
    West Germany and Germany

Correct! The key was was a peno scored in a WC shootout and a peno scored in the game itself. Platini, Shearer, Keane.

Others have scored penos in the game, but then missed in the shootout or just not even taken a kick in the shootout (eg Batistuta who was subbed in 98 v England or Zidane who was sent-off v Italy in 06).

Yep that's who I had in mind.

I suppose technically yes, but I always thought that West Germany history records were absorbed by Germany, ie the same country, whereas East Germany is/was recognised as being separate?

    May have been asked before

Who is the only player (almost certain there is only one but open to correction) to have been managed by both Bobby and Jack Charlton?

They play in the Russian 2nd division. That's 3rd tier.
I'm sure you could find a derby for PSG or Ajax etc. if you keep going down the divisions.
Let's move on from that one, I'm sorry I posted it at this stage. :pac:

Its the 3rd tier but they've since been promoted to the 1st Division (2nd tier), and also they have never played against each other (or have only played once, can't find accurate data).

    Hardly a rivalry.

    What he said^^
I thought they were in the 2nd division.

cambo2008 replied to Kolido that they play in the second division which is the 3rd tier, they don't.

It's the second tier they're playing in; 1 below the russian PL.
Russian National Football League = Russian First Division = second tier

This gives the russian league pyramid http://int.soccerway.com/national/russia/1-division/20122013/regular-season/ & so does wiki

they're 11th in the table if you can't see them; played 23 games

They play in Russia's second tier, they won their third tier in 2012 (regionalised), so have been in the second tier since the start of this season

    Rivalry's weren't mentioned, + there's always the cup :pac:

Going to go with Mark Lawrenson. I know he played for Preston and Bobby managed them at one point. Obviously played under Jack at some point for Ireland.

Can we count Liverpool as one of the teams?

If so I can think of

    Owen - Liverpool, Utd, Real
    Litmanen - Ajax, Barca, Liverpool

Markus Babbel played for Bayern-Hamburg- Liverpool so perhaps there is more.

Also Yossi Benayoun spent a year of his youth career at Ajax :P

Ajax-Liverpool-Chelsea (that one is cheating i'd imagine)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,422 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

    Raul Meireles - Porto/Liv/chelsea

Are we talking about players that have spent time at clubs which have won a EC/CL at some time in their history, or players which actually played in 3 EC/CL-winning teams?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,422 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Alberto Aquilani - Liv/Juve/Milan (on lone at latter two)

I can't think of any that were on 3 winning teams, so i'd imagine its just being on a team that won.
