Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I guess you could technically say Liverpool if you make a differentiation between Premier League/Old Division 1.

Only two players have played in the top flight of the top 5 european leages (England, Italy, Spain, France, Germany) one of whom scored in all 5. Can you name both?

    Mateja Kezman?

Edit: no, he never played in Italy anyway.

Florin Radiciou (?sp.) and Christian Poulsen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,950 ✭✭✭Pinturicchio

I've never heard of Raducioiu. I'd completely forgotten that Poulsen "played" for Liverpool.

Christian Poulsen definitely the non-scoring one, don't think I've ever heard of the other guy ^^^

    Raducioiu and Abel Xavier

Edit Xavier never played in France!

    ^ Both correct.

Another one. There have been four teams that have reached WC semi finals that no longer exist as countries. Name them.

Yep. west Germany, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Soviet Union.

Right, another World Cup on, or two.

Only one player has won the golden boot despite his team being eliminated in the first round. Name him.

And, other than Brazil, only three teams have had multiple Golden Ball (best player at the WC) winners. Name the countries and players. Bonus for the years.

    Haken suker?

Nope, he never won it. Davor Suker did, but Croatia finished third that year.

Yep, Salenko. Think he scored 5 in one game, 1 in another winning the golden boot. They were the only international goals he ever scored too.

    Argentina 78 Kempes 86 Maradona
Uruguay 2010 Forlan and .... eh either 30 or 50 I suppose. Dunno the players. Bah!

Yep, 1930- think his name was Nasazzi.
Also, I'm open to correction on this but I think Italy have 3, Meazze in '34.

    Anderson

ha don't know if that's a serious response, but no he's a good 31kgs short!

You'd be worried if there's anyone packing more weight than our own Richard Dunne.

Dunne falls just short according to the records I can find, although it's possible he's put on a few kilos recently as he's not been playing.

I'll give you a clue - the player is a striker

Correct - the only player to make it over 100kg.

Considering almost all the other heavy players were goalkeepers and then a few defenders, and also taking into account he's only 19, it really shows what a powerful unit he is.

    Aaaahhhh " Son of Drogba " :o

Makes sense now, he's fairly mobile for his size, any time hes played hes never really lacked pace to go past most defenders.

After checking who's 2nd, I am doubtful about my source! I was using the Premier League site (http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/index.html), and in joint second they have Titus Bramble and Andrew Johnson.

Bramble I could believe but there is absolutely no way that Andrew Johnson is 96.7kg! He's shorter than me and probably weighs about the same which I Imagine is more like 66.7kg.

Other than that glitch (and I'm sure it must be a glitch) the list looks believable enough. Friedel is in 12th, and Guzan was a decent shout by an earlier poster as he's in 5th.

Off topic, but on the subject of players weight/height, I see Sturridge referred to as 188cm (nearly 6'2) almost anywhere. The guy just does not look that tall at all and I'd swear he is maximum 6ft. Is this just me that sees Sturridge as smaller than he supposedly is??

He does look to be around that size, take this picture :

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRlVO-o7BYqY_WeUbjy18TFhrgap7TP8_lZN251j1zW5F3mZJx2rQ

Drogba's reported height is in and around 6'2 , 6'3 so I'd say Sturridge is in and around 6'1 - 6'2.
