Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

After checking who's 2nd, I am doubtful about my source! I was using the Premier League site (http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/index.html), and in joint second they have Titus Bramble and Andrew Johnson.

I'd tend to agree with your doubts about the prem site stats.

I just checked Soccerway (I'm not saying it's any more or less reliable than your source - in fact I'm sure Soccerway is often wrong, esp on height.). It has Lukaku at 94kg and Pantilimon at 103kg.

Also that search system on the prem site seems a bit messed up/incomplete? For instance Pantilimon doesn't even appear on the search results for height and weight even though they themselves have him at 2.03m/96kg

Yep. west Germany, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia and Soviet Union.

Right, another World Cup on, or two.

Only one player has won the golden boot despite his team being eliminated in the first round. Name him.

And, other than Brazil, only three teams have had multiple Golden Ball (best player at the WC) winners. Name the countries and players. Bonus for the years.

Technically thats incorrect. It was the German Demoratic Republic which disappeared. That country never won a World Cup. The Federal Republic still exists - east Germany just became part of it.

    Piqué, Eto'o and Desailly.

Hasn't Sosa won it too. Although that makes 4
Hang on, so are there 3 or 4? Seedorf never accomplished that, only Eto'o, Pique and Desailly by my reckoning.

Paulo Sousa with Juve in 96 and Dortmund in 97. So 4 in total.

Got a christmas present of a calendar type thing where you tear off a page each day. Every page has a football quiz question on it. I'll put down some of the many I couldn't get.

    1. In 2011, who was the first Englishman inducted into Scotlands Football Museum of Fame?

    2. Who are the only strikers in EPL history to top goalscoring charts with two different clubs?

    3. Which club's players have scored the most goals for England from 1872-2011?

    4. Which NI goalkeeper was Danish keeper of the year in 2009?

    5. Who is the only Austrian to have won an EPL player of the month award?

    6. Which three clubs have won successive FA cups on more than one occasion?

    7. which nation's league supplied the most players for the 2010 World Cup without that nation qualifying for the WC itself?

    8. Which was the only World cup that all 4 home nations qualified for?

That's it until today Feb 22nd. Now to make sure I don't lose all the pages I've torn off as the answers are on them.

    Both right

    Right

    Right

no idea if that's true about Wales, but if so, it makes the answer easy to find.

Wayne Rooney? I can't think of an FA Cup hattrick off top of my head.

Drogba is another one that comes to mind.

I read the question as 'not including that nation' meaning that they may have qualified but their own players don't count?

    3. United, basing a lot of that on Bobby Charlton!

    6. Spurs, Blackburn and Arsenal

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭roanoke

    3. I'll guess Spurs (they had Jimmy Greaves and Lineker for periods)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,695 ✭✭✭✭osarusan

Jaysus, look away for a few minutes and there's a load of replies.

3 - Not Spurs, another team's players have scored 192 to their 189 goals (until whenever the question was written, seemingly around the start of the 2011-12 season)

    Edit: Yes, Man United.

    6. Wanderers, Blackburn, Spurs.

    7. - Yes Russia, had 12 players in the tournament, to Turkey's 11, and Scotland's 10.

"Who is the only player to score hat-tricks in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup for the same club?"

How is Wayne Rooney not correct?

    CL : Fenerbache
    FAC: Portsmouth
    PL: (Take your pick) Arsenal.
