Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Moran didn't get a red card exactly? Is it thus Rob Styles sending off Reyes?

Or if you're counting that as Wales then Marriner sending off Zabaleta?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,748 ✭✭✭✭Lovely Bloke

which was in Wales, so it was yesterday's game

haha, the use of cards was suspended between 81-87 in England for some reason

    Correct :D

At the time of Morans sending off the FA had stopped using red and yellow cards. Think it went on for about 3 years before they went back to them.

Therefore Moran never saw a red card :P

EDIT: The answer is Reyes. Although the game was in Cardiff, it was the English FA Cup Final.

Last irishman to score in Lansdowne and 1st irish man to score in Aviva?

    same dude.

Bit of a dud this question... Dave Mulcahy scored in both games, but that's as close as it gets. He scored the 1st of 7 in the 06 Cup Final, Peter Hutton scored the last one or Stephen Brennan whose OG was the deciding goal in extra-time.

Technically Jonny Evans scored before him in the LOI XI vs Man U match (although he might take umbrage with being referred to as an Irishman, he could have a passport in the morning if he asked for one).

Yep close enough, 23 different football nationalities took part in the game, a record for a PL match.

Yep - remember di Canio's goal with Barthez with his hand in the air. 2001 or 2002? The mad frenchman never got the credit I thought he deserved for that incident - a lesser player than di Canio would have looked towards the linesman, giving the keeper a chance to strike.

Coventry put United out in Fergusons first season in the FA Cup.

No the Crazy Gang is wrong

    So we have

    Arsenal
    Pompy
    Coventry
    Southampton (on pens)
    West Ham

Having forgot about Southampton that adds an extra team to the list two more teams needed now lads

    Cobh v Finn Harps?
Well Cobh V Derry also so.

No one managed to get the third answer so I might as well give it.

It was a match between a Team form Cork and Belfast.

Alton Utd were from the Falls League which at the time was affiliated to the FAI and not the IFA. They actually won the Cup that year in a big shock.
