Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    I was thinking this too, but captains instead of managers.
    Could be - the slight complication with either is there have been 57 finals but the list adds up to 58, so I assumed 2013 was included as Germany

    Nationality of managers of European Cup/CL winners?

    Yes, that's it, Germany makes 58 as both managers next saturday are German.
    Not with Romania in there

    Stefan Kovacs who managed Ajax won it twice in the early 70's and Jenei who won it with Steau in '87.

    What do the following teams hold in common?

    Vasco da Gama
    Borussia Dortmund
    Zenit St Petersburg
    Lazio
    Athletic Bilbao
    Southend United

    I think I heard that Ferguson never beat Southend, can't remember him ever beating Dortmund so I'll just say it's teams he never beat at Man Utd.

    Yeah close enough, those 6 teams hold a 100% record over Utd under Ferguson.

    Not sure how I missed this answer earlier, I was certain it said something else when I saw it before. My apologies, Blackpool is correct.

    Whats the 3 Greatest distances a team has had to travel to play in an FAI cup tie?

    this'll have a new answer in a fortnight will it, blarney v derry replacing the belfast team & a cork team?

    Ehh Blarney United's ground would be further north than Cobh Ramblers so Cobh to Derry is longer.

    Actually Everton AFC would be also lower than Blarney.

    yeah i know it's north of cork

    but is derry to blarney further than the belfast to cork game?

    what i asked in the first post

    My point was to leave Blarney out of it as it is further North of places in Cork city or Cobh.
    Now of course to go to Dublin and by extension Belfast one could drive south towards Cork city to then hook up with main Dublin-Cork motorway rather than cut cross country to join the motorway.
    Ah feck it this is turning into a cross between geography class and the AA route planner. :o

    you're misunderstanding it i think

    the question was something like,
    Q. what are the 3 longest distances involved in FAI cup ties?
    A.
    1 = derry v cobh,
    2 = derry v cork city
    3 = a belfast team v a cork team

    so now with the derry v blarney game will it replace answer 3,
    do you get it now?

    new question of people don't mind.

    Seeing as Gibralter are in the football news, name the player from there who scored an FA Cup third round hatrick, while we are at it who did he play for and who was it against.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,565 ✭✭✭losthorizon

    it was Joe something and the second letter in his surname was I think a "z"?:confused:

    Can remember it but cant remember his name,I think it happened in the early 90s
    FA Cup always threw up a few great non league teams,did he play for Woking or Yeovil Town? Who were non league back then.

    Yes it was Woking, or 'non league Woking' as they were always referred to .
    The other poster was on the right track with the 'z' in the name.

    The opposition at the time were Div 3 I think, but are solid mid table Premiership theses days

    Would have been correct only his 2nd goal was changed to an OG by the dubious goals panel, so not the one I'm afraid.
