Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You know you're old when footballers younger than you are scoring hattricks in CL nearly 10 years ago.

    Here's even older!
Mike Newell got one for Blackburn I remember? Quickest hat trick in champions league history.

14 clubs have played from the North West of England in the Top Flight of English football - can you name them?

NW is Merseyside, Greater Manchester & Lancashire

I was just about to ask that!

I've asked a buddy who's a bit of a Football League buff and he reckons he's got it, seeing as I didn't get it myself I won't give away the answer, it is a tricky one though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,565 ✭✭✭losthorizon

Beasty who said Accrington is right. Missed his post the first time. One to go

    no

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,793 ✭✭✭Red Kev

Ok, I googled the answer as I'm heading out, I thought it was something defunct and I was right. Interesting club all the same, they still hold a few records, some of which are unique.

    Good question either way losthorizon.

Im going offline but this is a question I got from reading around on the internet and the last club I had never heard of tbh. think its something you know or dont. Ive never even heard of the Town they are from (clue 1) and Clue 2 They share a name with a famous biologist.

Just down the road from Accrington - Darwen FC (used to live less than 10 miles from the place!)

    Similar type of Question

Can you name the four Bavarian clubs who have played in the top Flight of German football - in fairness they have all been fairly recent.

Look at a map if you dont know where Bavaria is! One is fairly tricky!

    Monchengladbach?

They're in the west. Their local rivals would be Cologne.

Don't tell the guys from Nurenberg that they are Bavarians though ;)

Most of them claim to be Franconians

    Greuther Furth as well.

SSV Ulm were in it a few years ago, technically the club is formes from clubs that were based in both Ulm (Baden Wurttenburg) and Neu-Ulm (Bavaria). Though if pushed I'd give it to Baden Wurtternburg.
