Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Jaysus that's some memory! I was going through all the players I knew from that team in my head but have no recollection of Slater

Name the former England international who won his last five caps under five different managers.

Won't spoil it as I heard it the other night but a very good question. I'd be shocked if anybody honestly got this one right, by honest I mean not googling the answer.

    That's a cracking question....
Trying to figure out how it would happen is hard enough!!! :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,422 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Would I be right in thinking its recent enough, there's been few managers in the last 10 years or so. Is it someone like Kevin Philips or David Beckham, I'm probably way of the mark.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,721 ✭✭✭Al Capwned

Did any ex England international go into another sport perhaps???

The straws, they're just out of reach....

Has to be in the last 20 years at most.

Has to be a player on the fringes and/or with a bad injury record. Shot in the dark: Joe Cole?

EDIT: "Last five England caps", probably not J Cole

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,064 ✭✭✭✭eh i dunno

Last twenty years and not in a different sport. Doubt you'd even find the answer on google. I'll give a clue in a while of no one gets it

I remember Peter Taylor being a stand in and I think they had a couple of others in the early noughties, so I'd imagine it's the Glenn Hoddle, Keegan and Sven era? Was it one of the Arsenal defenders winding up their career?

wow. Impressive. Thought it would take longer. I don't know the five managers but id imagine it includes a few caretakers

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,683 ✭✭✭LightningBlue

I thought it was going to have to be someone who was capped in the period either side of Keegan especially under Taylor as he only managed England for 1 game.

also interestingly enough the last ever player to be born in England to win the world cup ever. I happen to be a clairvoyant.

There are 8 cities in England with 2 or more teams that play in the football league (as of the start of the 2013/14 Season) ... Name them.

This sounds easy at the start... but it swiftly gets more difficult as the cities are named.

I'll personally get the easy ones out of the way:

    Manchester
    Liverpool
    London

    The remaining 5?

82 was called up for tournament, same in 98.

    1990 they were hosts.

    86 they were defending champions.

    great question

What three Barcelona clubs hosted games at the 1992 Olympics games?

Extra point if you name the stadiums!

And surely the Nou Camp and the ground that Barca's reserves use which holds about 10k?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,565 ✭✭✭losthorizon

    Espanyol is one correct
Nou Camp is correct - obviously that Barcelona. Thats three answers out of the six.

    Barcas reserve stadium wasn't used.

    Camp Nou
Sarria (also venue for Brazil v Italy in 1982, one of the best games of all time)
Sabadells ground..no idea of the name unless I Google it

Yeah correct. Espanyol (now Catalan spelling) used to there. They have since moved not altogether voluntarily and their former stadium denolished.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estadi_de_Sarri%C3%A0

Barcelona hosted games as did one of the other clubs in the province of Barcelona -
    Sabadell.

    http://estadiosdeespana.blogspot.ie/2011/04/sabadell-estadi-de-la-nova-creu-alta.html

The stadium is called Estadi de la Nova Creu Alta.

On a side note I didnt ask it but two other venues outside Catalonia also hosted Games - at Valencias stadium. Its quite near Barcelona and loads of people in that province speak Catalan as a first language not Spanish and also Zaragoza.
