Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd say Sampdoria, Benfica won the cup before, if I'm reading the question correctly.

Yep has to be them - nice memory! I got most of the finals in my head but only going back to 1993, couldn't remember the 6th team and knew it had to be somebody in those years. Nice question

    Darren Bent?

Is it Marcus Bent? I remember hearing something about it when Birmingham were promoted in 2009 but not sure if he ever played for Birmingham in the PL. I have no memory of him playing for Birmingham in the PL so he might be stuck on 7.

Just remembered the Turkey one, in the '92 qualifiers!

Did we beat Denmark away, only remember a 0-0 draw!

Not Latvia, when Ireland beat them they hadn't played in a tournament.

    Denmark not right
    Czech not right

    NI
    Scot
    Tutkey

Sorry, I misread the question. They played their first tournament after the Ireland win.

The '09 playoff game was official a Ireland 0-1 win in 90 mins

On second thoughts, shouldn't Czechoslovakia count as an answer? I'm fairly sure they had played in many World Cups before Ireland beat them in 1967?

Got relegated without finishing in the bottom 3? (The year the Prem cut from 22 to 20 teams.)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,422 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Yeah that's another interesting record they hold, only team to finish 4th from bottom and get relegated, but it's not the one I had in mind.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,111 ✭✭✭✭Quazzie

Palace are the only team to be bottom of the table at the end of November and finish above 17th at the end of the season I think.
