Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

You thinking of Savio Nsreko? Pretty sure he was half Ugandan, not Namibian.

No he was definetly white and when they said Namibain and half German from checking Google, that dude Oliver Risser fits the bill.

Plus the OP said it was correct, I would have never got the name in a million years but the white and Namibian stood out like a sore thumb. :pac:

Namibia, Iran, Lebanon are the places I want to visit.

But I do know from reading about Namibia that loads of German speaking people live there and it was ruled by Germany at one stage. Its supposed to be an absolutely incredible country.

This is a really hard one.

Aston Villa hold this record when winning the European Cup.

Bayern used to hold the record before them - what is it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 500 ✭✭✭Jarrod

Lowest placed domestic finish by a European Cup winning team. Villa finished 12th in 1982 whilst winning the EC in the same season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,976 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I wonder is it the fastest substitution in a European Cup final? I remember Spink coming on after something like 5 minutes for Jimmy Rimmer. Spink had a great game too and went on to a be a great one for Villa.

If you were being pedantic you could possibly say that when Marseille won the European Cup in 93, but got thier 92-93 league title taken from them due to bribery and demoted they could be argued to have finished last.

Were the Aston Villa and Bayern Munich low league finishes due to squad rotation? Didn't think it happened much in the 70's.

Squad rotation was virtually unknown back in the 80s. But the English league was incredibly strong back then not just the top 4 or 5 now but the entire league.

English clubs won one hell of a lot of european trophies up from the mid 70s until the Heysel ban. Even "small" teams like Forest were a force to be reckoned with.

Arsenal competed three times in the old European Cup Winners' Cup and Barcelona have twice been runner-up in that competition. But which other competition have Arsenal competed in three times and Barcelona been twice runners-up in?

The UEFA Fairs Cup is the only one I can think of that it might be. Just a guess though.

    Something pre-season?

    Emirites Cup or Amsderdam Tournament?

I hope the answer to this is not some preseason tournament.

    Woman's Champions League?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭roanoke

Just to those who have asked, it's not a pre-season or friendly tournament. Also it's not an obscure historical tournament like the aforementioned 1940's London War Cup etc. It's a tournament that you've all most likely heard of.
    Fenix wrote: »

Nope. It's not a women's comp. (It's not an underage comp either btw).

    Intercontinental Cup?

Pretty sure Arsenal never played in it, can't think of any other tournament.

EDIT: Sounds like a dodgy answer, must be some non-European competition with same name teams.

Genius. I bet it's Arsenal di Sarandi and Barcelona of Ecuador or something like that.

I know that the year Vasco da Gama qualified for the World Club Cup in the late nineties (the year United were in it), they beat Barcelona in the Libertadores final.

Dejan Stankovic? I'm guessing someone who played for Yugoslavia, Serbia or Serbia and Montenegro.
