Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An earler question was name the 5 teams Ireland have never played in international senior games, and they were, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Slovenia.

Can you name one more team that Ireland have never played competitively even though they have played them in friendlies ?

    Correct.
Its the only "pre Berlin Wall collapse" country Ireland have never played competitevly

By the way I should have been more specific in the question.
It was as a UEFA team that existed prior to the breakup of Eastern Europe in the early '90s

Correct, thats the 4, well played guys.

I think Berger got 5 goals in 2 home games against Chelsea, vaguely remember a 5-2 beating followed by the 4-1 (maybe 4-2) win the following season.

I think the question is supposed to be

Who was the first player to play for England who had not been born when England won the world cup in 1966?

Adams got first cap before Martyn

Sorry guys the question does looks ambiguous indeed but this is the correct interpretation. Apologies.

During his career, He was a team mate of Alan Stubbs, Ian Wright, Matt Le Tissier, Yossi Benayoun, Nicolas Anelka & Yakubu.

    Who is he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,906 ✭✭✭✭PhlegmyMoses

The only player I can think of that played for Arsenal (Wright/Anelka) and Le Tissier era Southampton is Luis Boa Morte. Benayoun was at West Ham with him but I don't know about Stubbs or Yakubu.

Its not Craig Bellamy is it?
*although he probably never played with Stubbs.
    ** or Le Tissier.

He played and scored for Man Utd and his father score against Man Utd at Old trafford, who is he?

I know of one player but its possible there are more. Seems like a highly rare occurrence though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,223 ✭✭✭Michael D Not Higgins

Hernandez is unlikely since I think his father only played in Mexico. I think Berbatov had a footballer father as well, maybe him? Last guess, Jordi Cryuff, did his more famous dad score in Old Trafford?

Didn't know Giles was at United, presumably that's right so. Strachan's right too. There's still one more that I can think off, probably only obvious if you've been following the football news over the last day or so
