Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Name the 3 Irish players with PL hat tricks

    Robbie Keane
    Jon Walters

The third is a very random one I'd say- Mickey Evans Southampton?

Name the 3 Irish players with PL hat tricks
Robbie Keane, Robbie Keane and Robbie Keane.

Joking I know the other two, Jon Walters and Leon Best. Both played for Blackburn at some stage of their careers and I know everything about Irish Rovers.

Leon Best scored one for Newcastle, he must be the unusual one

Name 2 leagues where a player born in 2000 (or later) has made their debut.
Top leagues of these countries only

Funny enough, they both have played the exact same amount of minutes.

    For bonus... name them.

At some stage of my career I've been team mates with the following: Kevin Nolan, Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Eto'o. Bobby Zamora, Djimi Traore, and Scott Parker. I have been managed by:Mark Hughes & Dick Advocaat, and I have won league titles in three different European countries, as well as the Champions League.

Yes. Top 6 who never missed a penalty. Only 6 to have taken at least 10 Penalties with that record.

Fair enough. I got the stats off this page: https://www.statbunker.com/alltimestats/AllTimePenalties?comp_code=EPL
Cantona is down as converting 14 of 14. Apologies for any mess up.

I know the match was played in Naples and Diego expected the locals to cheer him ahead of Italy but I've never heard anything about the shirt?

I can't see anything with the kit. He's wearing Puma boots with the Argentinian Adidas kit, but that was allowed for a long time. I think Cryuff had something similar back in 1974.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,862 ✭✭✭✭inforfun

Cruijff had 1 stripe removed from his Adidas shirt when he was playing for the Dutch team as he had a contract with Puma.

    Did Diego have the same?

    Did Diego have the same?

Or were his boots modified so he could play with an injured foot?

Or was his strapping on his good foot, so the Italians would kick that one instead of going for the bad one?

    he's wearing napoli socks.

Not trying to dispute this but from the images I found online, he seems to be wearing the same socks as the rest of the team, there must be a minute difference in them?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,793 ✭✭✭Red Kev

Can't see it either. The Argentinian socks have three horizontal pale blue stripes on top as they probably represent the Adidas logo as well as mimicing the three blue panels on the shirt.

Napoli had NR as a kit outfitter that year. Their socks are full medium blue to match the shirt with white shorts. Can't see any stripes on them either.

This is Maradona v Italy in that match, no sign of the NR logo either.

This is Napoli's away kit that year with the white socks.

I've seen a report that it was in the QF match against Yugoslavia that he wore Napoli socks
For the quarter-final against Yugoslavia in Florence, Argentina wore their dark blue away shirt, black home shorts and regular white socks. The same combination they used in the previous World Cup in the 'Hand of God' match with England.
But there was something different about the captain's outfit. He was wearing Napoli away socks, which were also white, but made by the manufacturer Ennerre, as opposed to adidas like the rest of his kit. It didn't go unnoticed.

Thought it was goingto be winning both the UEFA Cup/Europa League, and European Cup/Champions League but forgot Bayern's CL win was 2000/01.
