Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I got 9 out of 10. Still don't know the last team.

Just looked it up and I really should have got it.

Handy enough one, was this the one that caught you
    West Ham
    ?

Yep. Pure stupid not getting it. I knew it had to be another
    London club
    but couldn't think which.

That one got me too. I went for another team, Googled it and they'd only scored about 30 less.

Since this thread is revived, I'll throw this up:

-I've played for exactly two English clubs
-I've never won a trophy with either of them
-I've scored more goals for my country than I have in England
-The country I play international football for is not the one I was born in
-I've never made it past the quarter finals of a major international tournament

Two English clubs, other club(s) elsewhere too though.

Probably need to narrow it down a bit, if that's allowed.

Are we talking PL era, I'm thinking the 2 english clubs were not necessarily top flight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

PL era, both are currently PL clubs.

If it's still too broad, I'll say that he's a defender.

Was about to guess Mascherano but he played in the World Cup final right?

Edit: Also born in Argentina - never mind me I should verify my guesses first!

In the initial question, yes, but as hinted above, its a defender.

I would say there maybe a few correct answers to the initial question.

Ah I missed the defender bit! Trick question! :P

Yeah there might be a few answers. Benimar got it though, Vedran Corluka.

Rossi does look to fit the bill too, I tried to make it as unique as possible so that there'd be no other answers but once again, I failed. :o

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,815 ✭✭✭D14Rugby

I've got one, could be more than one that fits the bill, sorry if there is or if its too obvious, I tried to narrow it down as much as i could so its just one player.
    I'm an Irish International
I've played in the English Football league
I've never played for an English club
No fans of my team ever saw me score in the Football League
I wasn't capped while in the Football League
I've more international caps than goals in the Football League
I have 5 top flight winners medals

Tougher than I thought, 12. There really are some terrible players in there who made no impact

I got 14 but I'm sceptical of the Liverpool answer. I thought Carroll was 35 and Mane 34?

I'll try a question like the recent 1s, hopefully its acurate enough and not too vague.

    - I have a better than 1 goal per 2 appearences at international level.
    - Played professionally for 4 teams on 2 different continents, winning at least 1
    championship (top flight) with each.
    - I've been footballer of the year once in 1 continent and once in 1 country.
    - I've won 1 major European club competion
    - I've appeared at 1 world cup

    Who am I?
    - I have played in the Premier League and the Championship winning neither competition
    - I once transferred between 2 rival clubs from the same city
    - I played in 2 World Cups
    - The only international cap I have against Ireland was from a friendly at Lansdowne Road
    - I have won a European Trophy
    - I have an Olympic medal

    Correct!

Premier League with Derby - didn't win it
Championship with Plymouth - didn't win it
Transferred from Inter to AC Milan
Played in 1998 and 2002 World Cups
Played against Ireland in pre-2002 WC friendly
    Won UEFA Cup with Inter
Won Olympic gold medal in Atlanta 1996 with Nigeria (though was probably 10 years older than he said he was!)

    Nice work

There are Russian clubs over 5,000 miles apart, so that'd be 10,000 miles return for a game?
