CAO Random Selection?

Hi guys, I was reading through some old threads and posts and I noticed some people talking about CAO offers being offered through random selection when multiple people have the equal amount of points etc.

    Is this correct?

Surely there's a better means of offering places? Maybe through the percentage you received open your fetac modules or an interview perhaps?

I'm currently doing 12 modules and quietly confident of getting 12 distinctions ( I know only the best 8 are calculated) but the random selection process worries me. It's seems like someone can put in a lot of hard work and effort but yet have their fate decided by a random lottery. Seems slightly unfair to me, personally.
