Bringing Mrs Kaltz away for her 40th in April. I've booked Les Mis tickets and am looking for a reasonable good restaurant in the West End. Does one exist or am I doomed to pay crazy prices for rubbish food. Recommendations appreciated.

I was in Wild Honey in Mayfair at the weekend. It was fancy pants and quite pricey but the food was top notch

Lots of restaurants do pre-theatre deals which are quite reasonable, but your choice of food options is limited.

My boss is a foodie, and he raves about J Sheekey http://www.j-sheekey.co.uk/

Also, if you can get a booking, The Ivy isn't as expensive as you'd think:

squaremeal.co.uk is handy for sussing out restaurants.

Mele e Pere is excellent on Brewer Street. Always busy but they take bookings and they've a great value set menu too.

Across the road from it is a great Sam Smiths' Pub with lovely good value beer. It's called The Glasshouse Stores.
