Clamping due to unpaid management fees in an estate

There is a thread here, about introducing the clamping of vehicles in a private estate if people have not paid their management fees. The suggestion was that they would have to register their licence plate numbers, but if they didn't they would get clamped by default. I was wondering about the legal aspect to this?

I don't need it - I'm just curious about clamping someone on their own property. It won't affect me

Ok, it has been dealt with. It is initially a tort under a few heads, but may fit into a couple of criminal categories as well.
