How long for loan approval?

    Hi

    Just wondering how long loan approval takes these days? We applied for a loan from our bank and we're not strangers to them in that we do all our banking with them (mortgage, current a/c's etc) but still had to bring in photo id and 2 recent payslips. We dealt with the assistant manager who said he'd let us know when he had news.

    That was 2 weeks ago. Are we being given the run around or are banks seriously under resourced? I emailed the assistant manager this morning who said as soon as he has news he'd let us know. We only applied for €4k as our car got written off in flooding so we need to replace it. I presumed for loans of that amount that the branch could process it but apparently everything had to be sent to Dublin (we're in Cork).

    Any advice welcome !

    It's a how long is a piece of string kind of query that one. It could depend on a number of factors from staffing to whether or not it has to be approved by a central team of lenders etc

    Which bank is it? Folks might be able to give more specific info if they know which bank it is.
