Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well man truthfully stay away from the Chinese scrap bikes!!! Cost ya more koney than anything and tey are s**t. You'd get yourself a nice 125 branded bike for the top end if your budget

You won't get anyone advising you to get a chinese yolk. As zetecmad said, run away, it's not worth it! Bits break off them all the time, and when you go to fix them, more bits break off in your hand. They'll break your heart, and any mechanics heart that you bring it to.
I don't know anything about dirtbikes, but after a few seconds searching, looks like your budget is a bit small. But obviously if you have cash, you never know what some people will drop their price to.

If you want something 2 stroke here's something:

And if you want 4 stroke, this looks good:

It all depends on what you plan using it for. If you have any plan to use it hard and drive it as intended then spend 1250 on a japanese two stroke with some service receipts. If you are just going noodling around a forest then it doesn't really matter - the Chinese stuff is pretty awful but if you get a clean one for small money you might be ok. They handle like sh1te though. Loncin, Skyteam and Daelim seem ok in my experience but anything else is a grey area.

To be honest stretch the budget a bit more and you'll get yourself a nice Honda cr or Yamaha yz. I've a CR myself and can't fault them man. If you go down the cheap pit bike route your better of burning your money!! Watching it burn would prob last longer than the pit bike!!!

As a first dirtbike consider something like an XR200 or DR200 they are solid old skool 4 strokes and with regular oil changes capable of long life.
Modern 4t MX bikes make big power and with that short component life.
They need very regular oil changes and will punish you financially if this is neglected.
2 strokes are a much better bet, and have the advantage of being much simpler if anything does go wrong.
