Seatbelts!

I know it's terrible but I watch the American version of Top Gear regularly and I'm always astonished at how they very rarely ever wear seatbelts. Even though they're on TV!

In a recent episode they did their version of the top gear camper van alternatives. They were racing RVs in highly unstable vehicles without seatbelts. One of the cars was a convertible with a massive house attached to the top of it and he was driving it around a dirt track at speed with no seatbelt. It would be unheard of in BBC health and safety mad BBC version and seeing as they own the American version it's even surprising they haven't said something.

The seatbelt just doesn't seem to have caught on at all in the US.

In a lot of states in the US, wearing a seat belt is not compulsory, or at least you can't be pulled over for not wearing one.
