Hope this isn't against the rules...but I watched a documentary last year about Roy Orbison. It wasn't really a documentary per se... more a performance from a gig he done...I can't remember when/where or name but it had a very young Bruce Springsteen playing alongside Roy. Was a fantastic show & I'd really love to watch it again. I know its vague though :(

Also, are there any good documentaries on Mama Cass to watch? Would love something that goes through the whole Mama Cass story

Hi there, it's a pity - that Roy Orbison gig was shown on Sky Arts 1 a few weeks back - I think it's just called 'Roy Orbison and Friends'. They had a RO weekend or something and showed another narrative on his life which was very good.

I definitely remember seeing a documentary on Mama Cass but it's a good while ago and I don't have any details - just to say, it's out there alright!

The Roy Orbison show is called Black & White night, it's widely available on DVD. It features Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, JD Souther, Tom Waits, T-Bone Burnett, Jackson Browne among others.

There's a BBC 4 documentary called "California Dreamin': The Mamas and the Papas" that's quite good. It's not on the iBBCplayer though.
