Best way of Getting a US Visa??

    Hello

    Im currently in Australia on a Working Holiday and just applied for the Canadian Working Holiday Visa but I really want to head to the US.


    Is there anyway of getting a visa>? Is it just the Lotto choice we have??
    I work in IT and haev 8 years experience, no convictions and an Aunt in Boston, Can she help in anyway??

    Pretty much yes, unless you get an employer to sponsor you. Your aunt won't be much help, unless she heads up a large IT company and has some vacancies she can't find qualified US citizens to fill.

    Thanks mate, Do you think you have much hope in the following, Heading over there on my way to Canada with the 3 month visitor visa and trying to find some work legally , like a sponsor or something??

    Won't help the OP but just to clarify, you don't need to be unable to fill the vacancies with US citizens. As long as you're sufficiently qualified they can hire you over a a US citizen if they want. The exception being if they already have a large percentage of H1B employees.

    OP going over a doing a few interviews can't hurt, probably much easier to get a company to sponsor you if they've managed to chat to you face to face, although I'd start looking and try to set stuff up before you're there.

    Well, there are plenty of IT guys in the USA, and a work visa will cost the employer upwards of $5000, so with the current economic situation, chances aren't great unless you have experience in some specialised field/ rare computer language. But yes, if you have a few weeks to spare, nothing wrong with using the visa waiver and lining up some interviews.
