The guards are there with a cordon around a house alright. Seems to be beside Mick O Toole's or thereabouts. Didn't hear the reason though.

The bodies of a man and woman have been found in a B&B in Carlow.
Gardaí said they are treating the deaths as suspicious.
The bodies were discovered at around 1.30pm.
The scene has been preserved for a forensic examination and the State Pathologist’s office has been notified.
The identity of the man and woman has not yet been established.
The Stonehaven B&B is on Centaur Street in the centre of the town.
The woman was found upstairs, while the man's body was discovered downstairs.
Both are believed to be aged in their 50s.
It is understood that both victims sustained gunshot wounds and a firearm was discovered at the scene.

Still no details really coming out. I visiting a neighbour earlier & they know everything, [a fly can't sh*te in the town without them knowing:D], & they knew nothing of the particulars.

A lot of questions still open. Strange that they haven't identified them yet (they mightn't necessarily tell the media) - but no bank cards, passports, absolutely nothing. I wonder what nationality they were.

RIP to them and my condolences to their families.

obviously it wouldn't be right for any details to come out until some relatives/family have been informed.

    Irish Times report:

"The identities of the deceased had not been officially released last night. However, sources said the dead man was XXXXXr, Co Offaly. The woman was XXXXXXX, near Naas, Co Kildare.

The Irish Times understands both were separated from their respective partners, had been in a relationship with each other for over a year, and had been living together in Cloghan, Co Offaly. The pair died of gunshot wounds; gardaí do not believe there was third-party involvement.

The case is being treated as a murder-suicide.

    this is what i found:

A shotgun has been discovered at the scene of two suspicious deaths at a B&B in Carlow today.

It is understood the man and woman in their 50s suffered gunshot wounds and one line of inquiry is that they died in a suspected murder-suicide.

The pair were last seen at around 10pm last night and may have been drinking in a pub opposite their lodgings on Centaur Street in Carlow town.

They were discovered at about 1.30pm today, gardai said.

The bodies remain at the scene, which has been preserved for a full examination by Garda forensic experts.

Full post mortem examinations are also expected to take place tomorrow morning at Naas General Hospital in Co Kildare.

The Garda Technical Bureau and Dr Michael Curtis of the State Pathologist Office have attended the scene.

Investigating detectives have issued an appeal to anyone who was in the area of Centaur Street between 10pm last night and 1pm today and who may have seen anything unusual to contact them.

It is understood both victims were Irish but detectives are trying to determine exactly where they came from.

Father John Dunphy, a parish priest in Graiguecullen, Carlow, said locals were sure the pair were from out of town as their identities had not become clear during the day.

"Everyone seems to be lost as to what has happened," he said.

"No one seems to know who they are. If they were locals I'd say the names would have got out by now."
Fr Dunphy said Carlow was stunned by the tragedy.

"There's a sense a shock," he said. "Again it is like one of those things that happens in other places, not in your own community."

Gardaí said they are treating the deaths as suspicious.

The investigation is not really stated it was a double murder, the case its open to speculation right now, as there was no forced entry and CCTV footage doesn't show any one entering or exiting the B&B

The identity of the man and woman has not yet been established.

The reason for this is they will want to contact the family i.e children parents siblings. It is not standard procedure for the information to be released to the media before family.
