Get my car serviced out in George Corbetts today, wipers could do with being replaced and tyres during the summer. Was quoted 45 euros for wipers and depending on how good a tyre you want 350 -450 euros? Any idea of the prices other people charge or where best to go locally ?

Wiper seem pricey but the tyres seem around normal cost. You can get different brands for wipers and if they are all rubber it make its a bit more expensive. I got a cheap brand before and had to replace them a month later they were so bad but can't say I recall paying that.

Samri tyres in the Six Cross Roads business park does good deals on both. Used him before several times in the past and also use Tramore Tyre Center.

Tyre prices are largely dependent on size and quality, you haven't mentioned what size tyre you require.

Bought a set of wipers in Halfords - €45 total.
Check the price of yours there.

As for the tyres - check www.eiretyres.com for pricing

Go into Larry Guinan for the tyres, he's the man! and only across the road from Corbett's.

Depending on the mileage you are doing, e.g. long distances or local driving, might be a deciding factor in the type of tyre you need. Less expensive tyre(not a cheap tyre) may suit for local driving, whereas a more expensive tyre may be required for long distances. There are many tyres that may suit you and all will be priced accordingly but remember whatever you buy you are depending on the small amount of rubber to stop your car in all conditions. Ring a few dealers, Geraghtys, Advance, etc to get an idea of price. Try some of the motor factors for wipers and fit them yourself, remember the garage will be charging you for them as well as the fitting. There is a place opposite the hyper in Ballybricken or scanlons opposite Woodies.

I've used Eire Tyres in the past to get a good set of tyres relatively cheaply. A place in Callan put them on for about €7 a tyre.

There is a place in Kilmagany in South KK which had the cheapest tyres in Ireland at one stage. Doubt quality were amazing though on his cheapest tyres but if he was cheapest for the cheap ones he could very well be cheap for the good ones too.
