Ear Guards

I've noticed that in the last couple of months my ears seem to be getting folded over, crushed and otherwise mangled in pretty much every training session.

Apart from the fact that it's painful I'm not too keen on the cauliflower look (I already have some barely noticeable cauliflowering and don't want any more) and was thinking of buying some ear guards, probably these ones for handiness http://fanaticshop.ie/product/318/ear_guard/.

Anyone have ear guards (especially these specific ones) and find them of any use? Also wondering if anyone else found, like myself, they had no problems for years then their ears seemed to become susceptible to it?

They do help for sure but they are not a magic wand either. I wore them for a long time and my ears as still what you might call less than beautiful.
If your ears do get sore and swollen then my advice would be get them drained if needed and then let them heal. If you go straight back training after a day or two then they will just swell up again.

It's more like death by a thousand cuts than any massive amount of fluid or swelling at one time. Ah well I guess all I can do is get some guards and try and be a bit more careful. Just part of the game I guess!

might sound a bit odd, but warm up your ears before training helps.
