Yep it was, Closed by the Army in 1925 . At the founding of the Free State in 1992, the Richmond Barracks was taken over by the Irish Army and re-named Keogh Barracks. In 1927 the Irish Army decided to close down Keogh Barracks. The buildings, mostly three storeys high, then came into the possession of Dublin Corporation who in turn used the soldiers' quarters as accommodation for Dublin Families on their housing list. Mostly afaik to people who couldn't afford rent elsewhere there fore creating a ghetto known as keogh square which I have told was quite a rough place to live, Then Dublin Corp knocked that down and built a block of flats known as St. Michael's Estate on the site. That today has also been demolished.:)

As far as i'm aware some of the leaders of the 1916 rising were also kept in that building before they were moved to Kilmainham Jail.

Realies has covered the rest of it

It was a boys primary school for many years. It's now the new health centre. Doctors from Inchicore Medical Centre on Grattan Crescent have moved into it.

It was a Christian Brothers school at one stage.
