From the news and star website

"A LOW level shopping development on the largely derelict site bordered by Michael Street, New Street, Stephen Street and Alexander Street in the city centre could be brought back on track despite the land now being largely in the ownership of NAMA.
NAMA are looking at their assets around the country to see how they can be rejuvenated and turned into viable options. Included among the sites is Michael Street in the city centre, which could be developed by KRM construction partnership with approval from NAMA.
Richie Walsh of Waterford City Council confirmed that they had been talking to KRM/NAMA and there might be a possibility for a re-design of the original development in order to move it on.
Dan Kickam, one of the principals of KRM Construction Partnership has been speaking to various business interests in the city centre with a view to a development pending the availability of funding and planning permission.
For more on this story see this week’s edition of the Waterford News & Star."

This could be a much more fitting development considering the large scale of the original plans. Has anyone got any details to add to this?

not really, i have heard a lot of things on retail front construction from local reps and council to little concrete (no pun intended). However, there is this 1bn construction pot I have heard about.
