Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just wondering if anybody can help, our child minder has been called for jury duty and is in her second full day of proceedings. If she is there all next week or further we will need somebody to look after our child and will need to pay them, my question is do still have to pay our child minder while we pay another creche/childminder while she is away on jury duty. Any reply would be greatly appreciated:)

If you are in employment, section 29 of the Juries Act, 1976 places a duty on your employer to allow you attend for jury service. The law also states that the time spent on jury service is to be treated as if the employee were actually employed. In other words, if you are in employment and are attending for jury service, you are entitled to be paid while you are away from work. There should be no loss of any other employment rights while you serve on a jury. The County Registrar will provide a certificate of attendance on request.

    Is the childminder self employed?

Yes our childminder is self employed, both myself and my wife work full time so we will need somebody to mind our child while our childminder is away.

If she is self employed she should have raised this with the judge. Normally self employed people are excused.

I would see no need to pay her.
