Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a body in a burned out car in Co Louth this evening.
The discovery was made at around 7pm at Gyles Quay, near Lordship.
The scene has been preserved and the office of the State Pathologist has been informed
Gardaí at Dundalk are appealing for anyone who may have any information to contact them.

Detectives probing the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe five weeks ago are examining a possible connection with a body found in a burned-out car nearby.

The grim discovery was made by firefighters as they tackled the blaze at Gyles Quay, near Lordship off the main Dundalk to Carlingford road in Co Louth.

Nope.

Deputy State Pathologist Dr Kahlid Jabbar is due to conduct the post mortem on her remains tomorrow.
Gardaí say the results of that will dictate how their investigation proceeds.
However, it is understood at this stage the woman’s death is being treated as a personal tragedy.
