I personally find this kind of strange, as multi-platform games aside, that list still has a lot of remarkable games:

(I left Rayman Legends in as it was always meant to be a Wii U game!)
There pretty much are games there to suit everyone (RPG/FPS/driving games obviously not included, but X should fulfill the RPG fan needs when it comes out)
I'm not having a go, merely curious, what about the list above would you be particularly dissatisfied with?

See from my perspective I can answer this easily. You find these games "Remarkable" However to me (again in MY opinion) each and every one of them is distinctly unremarkable and made to appeal to niche interests and not to general interests.

You say there are games to suit everyone and have listed a few genres. But I certainly don't play games based on their genre (Ie. I don't go pick up every FPS just because I may like battlefield) I play them based on whether their themes and game-play appeal my interests and none of the above games spark even a mote of interest with me. It doesn't mean they're bad games just unappealing to my tastes and I merely reflected that with my view of the current Wii U library.

Not the place for it, and again this is not meant to be a dig (though I'm fully aware this is turning into a fan-boy pile on - I'm motivated by concern and curiosity, not my usual fanboy zealotry!) but if you don't like the current catalog of games and don't see anything on the horizon, why did you buy a Wii U? It doesn't sound like you're going to be thrilled with MarioKart or Donkey Kong, and there's not much else in the next 6 months. Why not wait a year or two for the inevitable price drop on PS4 and put some well-timed bets on a few good horses to grow your gaming stash?

Yes i am sorry this has derailed from the thread topic which was not my intent. So i'll leave it with this post.

To answer your question about buying it. It was a mixture of impulse (as I live beside the store where the bargain alert was spotted) and I rationalized that for a price that's not much more than a 3DS handheld and less than half the price of a PS4, it'd be worth having for any future exclusives and that it'd be good for party games when we've friends over.

Class 10 is apparently recommended. The device can handle up to 32GB.

    Thanks, got that today. :)

Would I be right in saying I can copy the old SD card onto a harddrive and then copy that stuff onto the new SD card? I'd like to keep my gamesaves and stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

@Jernal : As long as you're putting the new SD card into the same system you took the old SD out of then yes, a straight copy will do the job. Make sure you're file explorer can see hidden and system files and folders if you're dragging and dropping, just in case.

@elfy4eva : Well, as long as you came in with your eyes open :D Welcome to the party!
You might want to look at the current eShop sale - there's a game called Spin the Bottle that uses the Wii U gamepad (and no telly) to get pairs of players to perform embarrassing real-world feats while holding WiiMotes or the gamepad. Supposed to be pretty good fun as a "having drunk mates around" thing, but might be too touchy-feely

    http://www.zavvi.com/games-wii-u/deus-ex-human-revolution/10790461.html

    Deus Ex €16.25

Ok I really shouldnt as I have this on the 360 but if its playable on the gamepad I'll definately be getting it.

From what I read online it is playable on the gamepad. Anyone care to confirm this before I make the purchase.

    Very cheap price imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

I have definitely read somewhere that it works on the gamepad. I haven't broken the seal on my copy yet, but if you don't get an answer before I get home I'll see if I can get a moment with the WiiU to find out.

    It's on the list

Someone on here definitely has it, I've been Yeah-ing their MiiVerse posts about punching people through walls.
Excellent price, btw, cheapest I'd seen it before now is that same price but in Sterling.

Yeah I can justify the price to myself once its playable on the gamepad which I think youre right. I think it its. Otherwise it would just gather dust like the 360 version I already own.

I think its Edza or something like that keeps miiversing it. Its gotten to the point that I want it now. Looks fairly cool and would be a nice change of pace from the platformers.

Just ordered it. Really cant go wrong for that price. Been watching a few youtube clips of it online. Looks great in fairness and seems to be the best version of the game with new tweaks to AI and boss fights etc..

Legend of Zelda - Link Between Worlds €35.99 on WowHD. Ideal for those who are cheap and not in a hurry. There are comparable prices from quicker sources in the UK, far as I know (ShopTo, if memory serves) but not one that doesn't charge delivery (that I know of)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,312 ✭✭✭druss

Bought it. Bought Pikmin 3 during the week. Wavering over Monster Hunter 3This thread is killing me. Or saving me tons of money.

This is always a tough one. Before Boards I'd probably have spent half the amount I currently spend on games. Yet, I get more than ten times the amount of games. :o

Might be worth keeping an eye out on ebay/etc for a cheap download code if you don't mind digital, as it was a bundle title and some mightn't want it. Got a code off someone for the price of the two Oracle games (12 pounds) which was definitely worth it

I thanked your post but my credit card hates you!

So very tempted to buy mass effect but I haven't played the other two and with deus ex winging its way to me at the moment and donkey kong on its way to me at the end of the month there's just no point. I wouldn't have the time to sink into it which it deserves. By the time I do wanna play it I'll probably get it even cheaper than 12quid. Lol.

***edit.... decided to buy Mass Effect 3 and Batman Arkham City as well.***

Injustice however now that I'll take that alright for 12quid it'll tide me over till smash bros.

Batman arkham city for anyone who hasn't played btw is well worth 12 quid also.

***edit.... just remembered it was arkham asylum I played a year or so ago not arkham city so as above I decided to buy it in the end.***

Great value games. Deus Ex has gone back up from 16euro to 56euro on Zavvi. Glad I got it when I did!

***edit...To be honest if these games werent playable on the gamepad I definately wouldnt have bought them but because they are I reckon I'll get through them. Ive never played so many games tbh. I know I've said it before but I'll say it again the game pad is just fantastic. I'm flying through Super Mario 3D world at the minute. On world 6 already. Loads of stuff to go back to but flying through the main game itself. Definately a lot easier than NSMB Wii U, still great stuff though.

So once I'm finished that I'll get in to Deus Ex as its been on my to do list for waaaaay too long at this stage.***

Is there any of them in stock anywhere in Dublin? Love to buy this for someone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Some terrible pricing over in Zavvi's Valentines sale, (such as Deus Ex jumping to €56!) but it does include Arkham Origins for €18.75, including the Deathstroke DLC. Assuming WB bothered their arse to put the DLC onto the eShop and made it available to all EU territories...

HUKD are reporting NSLuigiB U and Wonderful 101 down to £21 on Amazon. Pikmin is still at that pricepoint and is now in stock instead of showing "ships in 2-3 months".

:( Luigi sad, so sad :(

I've bought 3 games recently that are on route from zavvi.

    Injustice
    Mass effect 3
    Batman arkham city

Sooo I really don't have any need for it yet. Soon though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Note to Murphyebass - don't worry, none of these are unmissable games, your wallet is safe!

If you prefer to not use Zavvi, Amazon now have Arkham Origins for £14.99 - the image shows the Deathstroke splash so presume it's included?

To get your SuperSaver on, why not consider Sonic Racing Transformed, which *Edit* has just dropped a further £1.50 to £13.99

HUKD are reporting some deals in Game.co.uk - Nintendoland @ £5 , CoD Ghosts for £26 and Assassin's Creed 4 for £19.99 (£36.99 if you want the collectables) - prices don't include delivery.

Not sure I'm arsed about AC IV - I started playing AC III last night and can't help but feel I've missed a LOT of exposition in a game where buying into the character's arc is critical to sustaining your interest in the endless non-interactive conversations. BTW - If like me this is your first AC game, don't worry - your Wii U is not sh!tting out it's GPU, all those untextured polygons are supposed to be there, it'll sort itself out after about an hour of you walking between cut-scenes....

NSLuigiB U is €20 from the eShop but it requires NSMB U to play it (the eShop version is DLC only).

The physical copy is a stand-alone game. Also, it comes in a green box, and not many other games can say that (except the Erotic Adventures of the Incredible Hulk), you can sell it on second hand to recoup some cash when you're finished and is potentially going to be collectable later on (though given how it's still on sale despite being limited edition, that looks increasingly unlikely.)

only one id have any interest in there would be AC4. I don't normally like the AC games but this one has boat and pirates. Ill get it when it goes down in price. Still more than i want to pay for it and im in no rush for it

on their site Gamestop have a 2 for €50 running, which has nothing of value in it (no sign of Pikmin 3 or NS Luigi B U), but in the 2 for €30 there's Deus Ex, Fifa 13 and Splinter Cell for WiiU - regrettably no sign of Resident Evil, but check instore 'cause it was in there over Christmas.

I have a copy of Super Luigi reserved at 24.99 at Argos in Omni park. It has to be collected by 9pm tonight, i'm not going to be able to make it down so if anybody wants the reservation number let me know.

They also have a couple of copies of Pikmin 3 for 29 euro.

Surprised recently, looking at the prices for the new Lego Movie The Video Game recently, €49.99 in bricks and mortar and online shops most places, including PSN, and €39.99 on the Nintendo E-Shop!
