Probably going to have a spare Blue Shell Edition myself next week, wonder would I be considered a Catch You Next Tuesday if I sold it without the code. ;)

Do the website "Bargain" prices on toys.ie ever appear in store?

Nearly every time something appears on toys.ie at a low price, they never have it in stock/never had it in stock at that price.

    E.G. - Skylanders Giants Starter Pack Wii U - €14.99
Not in stock anywhere at that price - http://checksmyths.com/StockCheckPage.php?productId=125771

Saw this on HUKD over the weekend - buy Infinity (£39.99 on WiiU) and get a character pack for free. They've included a few of the sets that have new game worlds, Lone Ranger (like a cute Red Dead Redemption) and Toy Story (some generic space opera game) in stock.

Apparently the Lone Ranger one is the best set for Infinity 1.0, and if you're thinking of having Iron Man vs Sully fights on 2.0 when it gets released later this year you might want to jump on the bandwagon now.

Whats Lego Batman or Injustice like??

Been meaning to buy either but at 12 euros it might be worth a go.

Injustice is great craic and well worth 12 euro. I actually did laugh-out-loud with some of the super moves.

    Haven't played lego Batman though.

+1 for injustice. Its a good laugh if you like your DC mythos. The jokers voice is off putting though.

Lego Batman is like every other Lego game. Simple puzzles, simple combat, ocd brick collecting. Bricks mean character unlocks but bear in mind that if you finish the game you'll have a bunch of significant multipliers that make farming for bricks pointless till the made n plot is done with. I played on 3ds, as I understand it its cut down somewhat. the cut scenes are smileworthy , where every DC character knows they're in a kids game except Batman who is as close to the Miller version as an age 3 cert will allow. But its pretty shallow. I got more play time out of the lex author minifig :) still, for that money I'd nearly buy it again.

I agree all of them are similar, but are the newest two?

I was going to buy Lego City Undercover because I thought I read somewhere it was different from the rest of them, and another new one also (Can't remember what it was.) - EDIT, maybe Lego Movie?

If they're all the same, different characters and different map.. Not too sure I'll go for it.

Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham announced also. (I noticed it when trying to find the name of the other game).

The lego games are okay, but I liked hearing/the idea that the newer ones were very different..

Well, I was playing a bit of the Marvel one last night and it's very like LCU but with better load times. You can wander round the city, commandeer vehicles (seems a bit wierd being Iron Man and stealing someone's car though) and generally smash the **** out of the place. The missions felt very like Batman though - specific obstacles that a set number of Minifigs can get you past, they give you a default team (and hence path) and later you can buy your way into having team members with other powers to open the other paths or at least rooms. There characters keep making little wisecracks at eachother which I didn't get in the Batman/DC one, but I think that's a 3DS limitation as I'd heard the asides in Batman/DC were great.

One thing that annoyed me in Batman was how Superman's flying was handled. There were balconies I couldn't reach because the game didn't want me to, despite being the mightiest creature on earth. Iron Man and even Spidey don't have those problems. And I'm starting to really like the Marvel universe... it's just more fun... anyway, I digress.

The key thing is that you don't play these games for the gameplay, you play them for the ambiance, and the DC game has it in spades :D

    Edit
Remember Argos had Fifa and Mass Effect 3 for €12.48 but they were out of stock everywhere?
Well, they're back in stock everywhere
    http://checkargos.com/StockCheckPage.php?productId=912/8213
    http://checkargos.com/StockCheckPage.php?productId=912%2F8361
Note that Mass Effect was 9.99 in HMVstravision if you're cool with PreOwned and can still find it.

They have an offer of Lego City Undercover for €53 with a free copy of Wii Metroid : Other M. Not a great bargain but a messed up combo that I couldn't help sharing.

Lego Batman 2, hmm... worth a buy at this price of €12.49?

Same with Injustice, worth the €14.99 price?

How big are the games to D/L?

This country really is a joke for finding bargains. Once in a blue moon it happens, e.g. Metroid Prime Trilogy and Xenoblade bundle. But in general we're ripped off and don't have anything remotely approaching the deals in the UK.

I hear Wii remotes + are £15 in PC World. That's less than €20. You won't get one here for less than €45. PC World don't sell anything Wii/Wii U full stop. Their Irish website is a joke as well. Somebody gets paid to run that mess?

Then there's the Wii U Pro controller, it's in HMV for £20. You won't even find it in any store here nevermind get a bargain price. It's pure gold dust.

Then other things like free shipping for UK buyers. I'll stop now.

It's a cod what we have to put up with.

Downloaded fairly fast too, I expected it to take hours, it only took about 20 minutes, was longer to install.

reminder don't use your stars code until at least 10am tomorrow

Have you got a link to that pro controller for £20 - it's £40 on Amazon.co.uk

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

that £20 pro controller in PC World thing has cropped up once in a while, more often on their eBay outlet than instore, but remember we had a better deal over here when it first came up - we got ours for between €19.99 and €22 depending on the PC World store. Problem is that because no one was buying Wii Us they stopped buying in stock. In fact those prices were to flush stock out. Could be that our PC World just managed it quicker than the UK counterparts.

And we don't have the population (either in terms of gross or density) to compete with the UK on price.

This is only kind of a bargain alert

If you buy either of Mario Kart 8, Lego City Undercover, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics or Wind Waker in Argos you get Metroid: Other M free.

It's only kind of a bargain alert because Argos prices render it not really a bargain, but if you were going to buy there for whatever reason it's ok I guess.

Argos deal worked out great for me. €54 for MK8 and Metroid, free Wind Waker HD, €5 cashback from Nintendo, a €5 argos voucher

It'll be credited about 24 hours after you redeem/buy any eshop software.
In this case, wwhd is 60 euro on the eshop, so she should get 504 points, which is €5 off next eshop purchase.

In case you're planning on saving your MarioKart free game for something expensive like Monster Hunter, or maybe you really like Minifigures:
Lego City Undercover with Chase McCain minifig - £29.99 - Amazon Super Saver

Not the cheapest it's ever been but not bad outside of a HMV firesale, and it has the figure. 8 in stock when I checked.

Edit : Also, if like me your kids have recently discovered the Rabbids thanks to a god-awful cartoon on Nickelodeon, you might be interested in picking up Rabbids Go Home for the Wii for between 30-72p (it's been up and down for the last couple of days) + £4 delivery second hand from Zoverstocks via Amazon. Supposed to be better than the Rabbids in Time game, which is going for around the same price.

Kirby for 3DS for less than €30 through Argos and CeX.

Buy Kirby for €37.99 and get Prof Layton Spectres Call for free, trade Prof Layton into CeX for €8 cash offsetting this against original cost for Kirby = €29.99 for Kirby
