Another title like Smash that could be built on an existing engine - in this case one that's already running on Switch - for a low cost and used to sell the Switch online offering. Free to play if you sub, 20-30 quid buy in if you want to make your own tracks; And make up your back-end selling Amiibo of racers in karts that unlock specific specialist tiles or reskins of existing tiles and hazards not required to build a track but handy to introduce flavour.

Super Mario Kart is one of my fave games of all time. There's never been a true sequel (on console at least - one or two of the gameboy titles were kinda similar). Would be magic to see a track editor and see what the community could come up with. There's be so much online potential Ninty could host annual tournaments. Who knows though maybe some SNES games will be added down with added online functionality like the NES ones, even just the original game with online play would be cool, so many people who never even played it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,202 ✭✭✭maximoose

How do you register, it won't accept my number, is this UK only?

I used a dummy number, don't think what you enter there is of any importance. Allows you to change billing address country no harm so not intended to be UK only.

Code redeemed fine for me and downloading painfully slow over my 4g now :)

300 Gold points for the store too.

The game is great but loses a lot without Miiverse. Nintendo should cutting the prices of Wii U games.

They should always be cutting prices, half of their games aren't worth full price, Pokken, Smash, Mario Kart are all €30 games to me.

I would have thought Smash and Mario Kart were Nintendo Select” titles by now.

Does it not go on units sold like back in the PS1 platinum era? Or is it just Ninty have selected a few games for the craic?

I’d like to pick up Pokken as well but not paying full price for that on a dead console.

All of that said there’s still nothing grabbing me, a Wii U owner, to buy a Switch. I know that’s another conversation but all this rehasing of old Wii U games on Switch is a pain.

New IP’s or new games please Ninty.

And ps.. drop the Wii U game prices please so us fans are punished further for buying your failed efforts.

    /rant

    That felt good. Lol

ps ps... I loved/still love my Wii U. Must get back to Xenoblade at some point, along with the rest of my backlog. Sigh.

Do you mean when they are released new or their prices now? Smash and Mario Kart will always be 'full' price games when released new and why wouldn't they be.

As for bargain alerts, Smyths here in Cork were selling off a few end of stock games like Monster Truck for Switch for €10. Probably differs in each store.

Huge discount buying Bit Trip Runner 3, or Runner3, on the SA store rather than local, it was up around €25 on the local Eshop, just over a tenner to preorder on the SA store!
I have the previous trilogy on my Wii and 3DS, so I know this is a lot of fun.
At a tenner I'll double dip for a physical copy, should it be released

It's a lot of fun but you can get a flavour if you find Bit.Trip.Runner somewhere cheap.

I mean when they launch, Mario Kart should not be €60-70, it's got a few characters and a few tracks, same for Smash, they're not exactly massive open world games... from my point of view I see Nintendo games as indy games, little games you throw on for 20 mins for a quick race or a fight like Rocket League.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,773 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

Lego Dimensions Wii U for £20 on Amazon

Think Smyths had it for between 20 and 30 euro last time I was in though so this may not be a revelation or anything.

Seriously :D Nintendo games are probably the most polished, well made games in the industry. One of the few companies whose games I'd feel are worth full price on release day the majority of the time.

They lend themselves to both pick up and play and extended game sessions equally too I think.

    Dial it back now lads
