Starting tomorrow until 22nd May, Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap will be 50% off on the Switch eShop. It applies to PS4/XB1/PC as well if that suits some people better.

Got that on release, and loved every moment of it. It is just beautiful in motion. Of course, at its core, it's still the same game from the 90's that I played back in the day on my Game Gear.

Really looking forward to playing the upcoming Monster Boy game too.

Didn't get into it myself, but for me that's as much down to the style of game it is. It's a platform explorer, with a fair bit of going back and forth. The gameplay mechanics are simple you'd know this game is from a different era. The devs did a gorgeous job on the graphics - you can switch between original and remade graphics as you please. Probably comes down to the genre of game as to the main factor as to whether you'll enjoy it or not. Like I said it's a platform explorer (commonly referred to as metroidvania - though I hate this term).

They’ve fixed the prices on other regions eshops but smyths seems to offer digital download codes for some full titles now...charging the same as their physical titles. (Hyrule Warriors is €55, but other titles have gone down to €50 on both formats, donkey kong being listed as €5 off so possibly they apply a launch premium for the first two weeks?)
Probably still cheaper online but if you want to go digital only (im tempted to) there’s that!

I know a lot of fuss was made about it not being the full PS4/XBOne game, different engine and gameplay mechanics, but standing on it's own two feet it's a fun game, plenty to do, and now it's cheap as (4star hotel) chips.
Smyths have it for €25 if you're a bricks n mortar man. There's an update dropping at the end of the month to bring in the World Cup data, and a new cover for the game in some shops if you have preference for what colour shirt Renaldo wears.

Cross post from the BOTW thread, but it probably deserves to be posted here as well.

Super price for the BOTW art book that's been released late this year. I think it's been available in Japan since last year.

Runner 3 is out tomorrow on the Switch.

About €24 across most of Europe, €9.83 in South Africa.

    https://eshop-prices.com/games/799-runner3?currency=EUR

Edit: Now €11.56 as 15% preorder discount has expired. Still good value though.

GameStop doing a new release for 19.99 ATM.

You can get Smash Bros. Pre-ordered with a selected game.
    https://www.gamestop.ie/Software-Trade-In-Offers is list.

If you look on cex you can get some on the list for as little as 10 euro if you live in the right town. I got mortal Kombat XL on Xbox one for 25(I have a serious amount of credit in cex from trading in my wiiu and games a few years back).

    Might suit some.

What game did you see for €10?

Think Naruro Ultimate Ninja Storm 4: Road to Boruto is €10 on PS4, which is on the list. Fyi, must be Road to Boruto and not the base version of the game.

    That's €30 on PS4.

Thats what it has on the website, must have been mispriced in the Liffey St store as they had a copy for the price of the base game.

I don't remember. I've been going through the list again, some prices have gone up.

From what I remember on my list (I ignored anything not in stock in letterkenny)

Tekken 7 and mortal Kombat XL for Xbox one are 25 euro
Zombie army trilogy for Xbox one is 20 - but not in letterkenny
Both those are a fiver more on p4, I think Tekken was 10 more.

Physical is always better and there are several sites selling this game for £20 new. I know I've seen Base and Tesco Direct selling it for that in the last couple of days.

Physical is not always better. What is the point in having FIFA 18 on cart when it will be worthless in a months time from now? Or maybe people prefer to have digital copies?

Currently CEX are giving €13 for the PS4 and Xbox version and €15 for the Switch version of FIFA 18.

FIFA and COD are probably the two games that lose 80% of their value after 4-6 months.

***Most of my Switch games are physical.

Edit: it's €25 in Smyth's if people do want to buy physical from a bricks and mortar store.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,645 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

It won't be completely worthless and it's not all about trading it in. You can lend it or swap it with another person. Can't do that with digital. Gamestop do deals from time to time where you can trade in any game and buy a new game for a heavily discounted price. You can't ever trade a digital game and so in that regard are completely worthless.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

Digital is very handy for not having to swap carts or to have that specific one in the slot to have to play it. I say that as someone who still buys physical mostly. Not everyone trades in or swaps games with friends. The worth in something to someone is the use you get out of it. FIFA is actually one of the ones that I do have digital and having put loads of hours into it's certainly not worthless to me. Having a substantial amount of games on your system, digital is ideal to swap between them effortlessly.

Hylian Shield DS/3DS Case, half price in Argos at €6.49. It's been this price for a little while but comes in and out of stock.

It'll be worth less than €10 in two weeks or so.

GameStop have taken FIFA 18 off their list of games to avail of the trade in offer of €20 for a new game.
