I would love to set up an art summer camp for kids but I really need some help in terms of the requirements for setting up a camp. Garda clearance and qualifications are not an issue just the business and insurance side... Any ideas?? :)

This is a duplicate post, I have just answered in Arts and Crafts, but you asked a slightly different question there, which makes my answer irrelevant.

Garda vetting can take months to come through so I'd apply pretty damn soon. You may also have problems applying for Garda vetting as a self-employed person. They stipulate that they will only process on behalf of companies or organisations. Having said that, they rejected mine for the same reason, then it came through a few months later.

For insurance, contact bizbroker.ie. I pay €150 for PL insurance, the cheapest I've found in Ireland.

Me again ;) Have you thought about premises? There is an abundance of summer camps around every summer. They will all need premises and every hall and parish centre will be booked up very quickly. You could try Montessori schools. They may close for the school summer holidays so you might be able to rent a room from them. They will also be very child friendly.
If you do get a parish centre then you will need to recruit additional adult help to escort kids to the toilet and back (but never into a toilet!).

The most cost effective way of marketing your camp is to stand outside school gates and hand out leaflets. Be prepared to hand out a lot of leaflets to get just a few students - say 100 to 1!

You will need to differentiate your art school from all the other art camps available and summer camps in general. How will you do this?

    Good luck to you!

If you need help you could consider someone that already has garda clearence like a student teacher or a Montessori employee on hols for the summer. If you dont have much experience of managing kids in a class room their experience might also be useful.
My daughter has assisted in a few art camps while doing her teacher training. she got a little extra on her CV and the camp got the benfit of her training.
